AWC Pump warranty denied for ECU flashes?
AWC Pump warranty denied for ECU flashes?
I've been lurking for awhile without posting, but I had to register to seek your advice.
I have a 2008 Evo X. The AWC pump recently failed, but is covered by the 10yr/100k mile extended warranty due to the corrosion defect they have. My car has 40k miles.
The dealership inspected the part and said it failed due to corrosion. However, they also said they looked at my ECU and said that while it is stock that since it has been flashed that they cannot cover the repair under the warranty. The advisor said I should appeal to corporate, which I did, and they concurred with the denial.
Consumer Affairs outright told me a few days back that the ECU has nothing to do with the AWC pump and that they've never heard of a warranty being denied for this reason, but that the decision ultimately rests with the regional manager. Today I was told the final decision was to deny the warranty. No one will even attempt to explain how the ECU caused corrosion on a part they extended the warranty due to corrosion.
Any idea how I should proceed from here? Try another dealer? Take it to a dealer outside the region (different manager)?
Dealership quoted $3k replacement cost including labor.
Meanwhile I see posts on here from people with full builds having theirs replaced under warranty. What gives?
Thanks for letting me vent.
