Trading in IX for X? Nope
Trading in IX for X? Nope
So the few time I've stopped in to a mitsu dealership at least one salesman asks If I'm trading my ix for a x every time i give them a laugh quickly followed by a very serious NO. Whats even funnier is that they usually tell me that they wouldn't trade for a x either lol Anyway just want to see if anyone else has experienced this?
I don't like the X body style. Its too..... fat.... ???
Everything seems more bulky and huge. And it doesn't even come with a momo steering wheel? What happened to the nice black interior, I mean, the X is nice, don't get me wrong, but its too.... plasticky on the inside. Reminds me of domestic cars too much. Cheap interior. Don't get me wrong the IX is made of plastic on the inside too, but at least it doesn't look cheap.
Well, let me put it this way. In my opinion, the IX is like a lithe, quick but well cut marathon runner, and the X is more like a chubby, big but strong shotput thrower.
In the end, both of them have only about a 5 hp/tq difference, so its *almost* the same. Sure you can count in SAWC and all that new stuff, but then again, that new technology won't replace skills and expirience. Plus, I like how the IX looks. X looks too Audi-esque and Boxy-ish. (Its *** is also HUGE!)
Just my $0.02 cents.
And I've been approached by the dealerships too. They wanted to give me 20K for my IX. I laugh and tell them to not call me again.

I've been to my "local" dealership 3 times in the past 2 months for random part pick ups or little services, and once just to check out the new MR. All three times I had the same salesmen try to get me to trade in my IX MR. He would try to sell me on the X with all this BS that isn't quite as true as he wishes it was.
For me it comes down to this; the IX is lighter, faster and better looking right out of the box. It is also easier to mod, better interior, all IX's (and prior) are standard transmissions, and best of all, they are a raw car, in a manner of speaking. I look at the X as a watered down former Evo. I can't even call it an Evo, it is simply a "EX" to me, not even a "10" because I don't believe it firmly follows the Evo tradition and matra.
So no, I will not be trading in my IX on a X. Though I am thinking about buying a 2nd IX soon. Thinking a RR RS or a EB GSR.

i love the new X... in fact i wouldnt mind owning a white one. HOWEVER, i would never trade in my IX for one. Meaning i'd have to be able to own both! I think the IX will be heavily sought out for in the future (like the VI) due to its limited production run (1 yr) and being the last 4g63 equipped version). That said... im all for new things as well and wouldnt mind owning a X too. They are both nice!

Hell no I would never trade my 06 TB IX. The Evo X looks just like the 08 lancer, which IMO, is utterly ugly. I dont want my car to look slow. I love how the IX looks mean and fast just sitting still.
Love my car.
I voted No.

funny story, the old lady took her ix in to get some parts... she ended up leaving with a x... the stealership actually gave her $29000 for a trade in... thats with a dented/cracked front passenger fender... had other minor issues, tire wear was horrible, alignment needed, ect. the x grows on you pretty quick... once you drive it, and play a litttle its fun
we now have a IX SE and a GSR X

on the contrary to what you said...maybe they could not sell enough X's and resorted into buying a horrible conditioned 9 for way over priced lol
