Wing set forward

Wings at the very rear of the car can lift the front of the car by pushing down behind the rear wheels.

As you move the wing toward the front, that leverage problem will be reduced.

If you look at dirt track sprint cars, you will notice the wing is almost in the center of the car.

Doesn't look very good but it works, that is more important in racing than style points.

I agree that it is god awful looking.

I have an RS, so no wing just VG's

By looking at the bulky rear fenders I would ***-ume that its a Evo with Lancer tails and a diffrent runk but I'm not sure. I think this would be much easier to do than swap everything into a base Lancer.. This is only a guess by all means.

I'm well aware the latest WRC car isn't based off the Evo guys. The point is, it replaced the Evo, spoiler and all. And if you look at the X games car, you'll see the same spoiler on an Evo. This thread isn't about whether or not the WRC car in question qualifies as an Evo anyway.

That's why I said that the spoiler on the WRC car would not be feasable on a production car partly due to the complexity it would add to getting the trunk open. As many have also noted it is not very much to look at. Which wing is most effective can not be judged solely on which car has a better record of results. For one Suburu's WRC budget dwarfed Mitsu's, Suburu's car's of recent have been better developed and have had better drivers.

I wonder if the trunk can be open with that wing on

I thought there were a couple wind tunnel experiments done on the evo wing saying it was relatively ineffective since it's too low downstream from the roof and that the flow characteristics of the front end/roof are just bad in general?

I dont remember the thread but actual downforce created was like 1/3 of how much the STi wing had and also that the evo front end actually lifts when the sti has some downforce in the front.
