27 MPG with next to stock EVO VIII
I usually get between 26.5 to 27.5 MPG in my 100% bone stock IX on the highway. My commute is 90% highway, and I typically drive 70-75mph on the highway. I think the best I've ever averaged on a tank was just a hair under 28MPG.
As long as you keep it under 4000rpm or so, the Evo gets quite decent fuel economy.

I am coming from a big turbo on my dsm , that being said its very hard to keep this insta-spool 16g out of boost. Needless to say my gas milage sucks. I just filled up the tank today($52) So i will update this thread with what my gas milage actually is in like 2 days lol.
I did a test with two full tanks with the same weekly driving regiment (going to work). The first tank consisted of driving around as conservative as possible and I got 19mpg. I then went through another full tank driving like an a-hole, going full tilt everywhere... 18mpg.
So now I just go everywhere with a smile on my face since it made so little of a difference.

Probably you wouldn't notice anyway...
I drove 3300 miles cross country towing a trailier weighing in at around 1850lbs and having another couple hundred lbs in the car (clothes, dog, wife, drinks/snacks/crap in trunk) and I averaged 19mpg (on 91 up through Minnisota) and 21mpg after Minnisota because that's when I started finding 93 again. I haven't tested my mpg since being back home with a real octane gas (93, hated 91 in WA) but I know that when my wife and I drove to an from CT 2 weeks ago before I sidelined my car I got 330 miles to a tank, and thats with a good 100 miles of "city" driving. I was happy.
I think I can break the 350 and if I can I will be happier. Life isn't about good gas milage, but it will be nice to not have to drop 45.00 every two days filling up my car.

I get 22 mpg and that is driving like a complete Bit#*. 120 miles of that was on thw highway. (60 mph) Keep in mind my 04 is bone stock so I am going to say either my rich stock ecu is the problem or some of you are telling some tales...lol. I don't see how some of you are getting close to 30mpg. Maybe some of you shift from first to fifth all day lol.
