If you can dial the boost back, that's the best bet.

That sucks. Here in jersey we can't fill our own tanks so we don't control the pump. But the station I always go to Valero, they know my car i had a g35 and now the evo and I always ran 93. What gets me mad the most is when they let the gas cap hang and it sits against the quarter. Going to get a razor blade and cut the line =)

story

horrifying story. when i first bought my evo, i had about a half tank of gas. i noticed by about night fall (i picked it up in the afternoon) i needed to fill my tank, at that point i was thinking, If i wanted terrible terrible terrible gas mileage i should have kept my truck, so i went to the gas station and chose 87. I did not know that i needed premuim. So i filled up without a care in the world up unitl i saw the little red and white sticker on the inside gas cover. OH S*** i thought to myself, i just ruined this baby. i drove staying out of boost for 2 days until having to refuel. now i only go shell or bp premuim and have been contemplating seafoaming my car.

Wrong, its 91. The highest octane available in many states is 91 such as Cali, Utah, Colorado, etc. The main thing to be worried about is if you have an aggressive tune on 93, in which case you should drive the car out of boost until you burn off at least a gallon, then pour a gallon of Toulene (paint supply store has this) into your tank which will bring your octane up to over 93. Most of the additives advertised as octane boosters are made from touelene, but cost more and boost octane only 8 "points"which is equal to 0.8% so your octane goes from 93 to 93.8% octane for example. Mixing in a gallon of toulene will bring your octane up quite a bit higher than that... reasearch it and you will see what I am talking about

I heard about running toulene a long time ago....why hasn't it taken off...what are the dangers of using it?

You should have slapped him across the back of the head and said, "Hey, ***** do you know how to read?".
