Warranty success at Mitsu!!!!
Ok so this is a two fold situation. I own a 2005 Evo VIII that is considered highly modded by some people ( well most actually) I took my car down to the local Mitsubishi Dealer today to have them look at it for some warranty repairs. Guess which ones? LOL the clear coat on the spoiler and the finish on the front brake calipers!!!
As well as the steering wheel that is somehow seriously degraded right where I put my hand. (Approximately the 12 o'clock position) Anyhow the regional warranty guy was there and took a look at everything. I should preface this buy saying this is the dealer where I bought the car brand new in 2005 and have had all of my services done by a mitsu dealer with the exception of one oil change. Anyhow back on topic. the guy says "I have no problem replacing the spoiler and front calipers however I am going to need to do some more research on the steering wheel so for now I am saying no." I was kinda suprised but still happy that they are replacing my spoiler and calipers!
Anyhow that being said, has anyone else had any problems with the finish on their steering wheels peeling off onto there hands while driving? When it is humid in the morning it is worse once the car sits in the sun for a while it is dry and pokey on my hand.
Thanks for your replies and a big thanks to Billy Sims at Newport News Hall Mitsubishi in VA! If you are in the area and need work done look him up and be suprised!

I'm not really surprised that they covered those things under warranty especially since the peeling clearcoat and brake calipers have nothing to do with your modifications. I know that normally Mitsubishi tries to make a connection between warranty claims and modifications even if it means taking far leaps but it's good to see that you got your warranty claim taken care of.
As far as your steering wheel, I believe there is a TSB on that subject. I'll see if I can find it.

BTW How is ATL? I know the last time we spoke you had just gotten there.

I had my 4 calipers and rear wing replaced without a problem. I even had drilled/slotted rotors on all 4 corners and they didn't care about it, they replaced the calipers without asking a question (except how many miles I had on the car and how old it was).
On the other hand I didn't have the steering wheel problem.

Some Dealers are great with mods and a lot are not. I went to South Coast to have an alignment done and they wanted to replace one of my front calipers. I told them no, I'll just wait till they all start to peel so I can get it done all at once. They were pretty cool, the service guy who helped me out said, "Dude u have some sick coilovers."
