not hard just takes patience as you have to use a Dremel and cut them open. I bought an extra set of tail lights for dirt cheap so that's what I used as a little project. End result came out great. I used krylon fusion satin black which doesn't require any sanding. There's a nice DIY on here that me and my buddy used for guidance.

I was bored this weekend. I decided to pull the headliner, interior carpet, and all pillar trim pieces to scrub them down really good. I shampooed the carpet, and as a side project- strategically placed some lightweight fire retardant foam to help insulate some rattles and noises. I used dawn soap and a soft rag to wash the interior trim parts, worked really well actually. I was surprised how dirty the stuff really was.
The interior of my 9 year old evo looks like brand new now

a pillars, b pillars, c pillar trims, all the door sill trims, all the oh $hit handles, center console, lower kick panel trim pieces, even the speaker grilles on the rear shelf, lol. Pretty much all the removeable interior plastic parts.

I used dawn dish soap that the wife has in the kitchen, lol. I diluted it by using a small anount in a bucket of water, soaked a rag on it and then scrubbed down the parts. Ive used it before and its mild enough to be safe but good enough to remove grease and stains.

Well glad to know I have folks to help me out from getting bored, lol.

The interior was starting to get that musty smell from driving around in the heat with no a/c, having hauled and kept various gear lubes and engine oils in the car.
I noticed that my windshield would get really hazy on the inside and all the alcohol based cleaners to clean the haze off wasnt cutting it.

I always used stuff like meguiars products to give my trim pieces that like new shine, and I think that was also evaporating and with windows rolled up sitting in the sunlight, the grease would just saturate onto the winshield, or so that was my theory on it. I wanted to thoroughly clean it, not just shine it up.

The interior of the evo comes off really easy, if anyone is local I would help them out. I had the headliner out of the car scrubbing it in my living room in like 45 minutes. The only part that was somewhat a pain was the clips that snap on to hold the sunvisors. I didnt have an extra pocket screwdriver to press on the other side to get them off so it took me an extra minute.

The added foam quieted some rattles and so far the glass is haze free. The interior smells clean, not just artificially clean from sprays or scents, so Im happy with the results.

Theres no glossy shine now but it is clean with no greasy feeling on the trim, and an added plus if you have allergies too, imho. When you have these trim and carpet pieces out of the car you can really scrub it without fear of getting water where you dont intend to.

I think I may have some disease because when I assembled and put my engine back in the car, I only used brand new oem bolts for every piece from the oil pan, front cover, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and up to the valve cover, and each bolt was torqued to specs.

Spent a fair while removing the driver door lock and ignition barrel to get it ready to be taken to a automobile locksmith, after a car thief unsuccessfully tried to steal my car by using a flat head screwdriver :|
