2026: What Did You Do To Your Evo Today?
[QUOTE=NJ9MR;11630430]I put a clear protective coating on my JDM head lights years ago, and they still look perfect! Never had to buff them, or anything.[/QUOTE
I think this is a great idea. Can you briefly explain the technique?

^ Sure! U warm up the head lights with a blow drier, going from side, to side evenly. Peel off the pre-cut covering, line in up and use one of those soft plastic 'squegees' to get any air bubbles out. But, please make sure to double check what the manufacturer's instructions say to do.
Only way to get a nice factory finish on headlights that will LAST is to sand and clear coat them. I have done my Evo, my wife's TSX. Her moms MDX. My Dakota RT and have done many locally as a side job.
-clean and degrease the lights thoroughly. Sand them. 800,1000,1200,1500 grit. Use a 2k clear coat with a hardener (automotive clear) and apply about 3 liberal coats. Will last for years and can be treated like your paint.

The Turtle Wax stuff will work for a little while. They'll yellow again though.

With respect above, my JDM VIII headlights did not need all that work. That clear protective 'skin' did the job for me. If his are dull already, I can understand doing the work you mentioned, and THEN installing the clear, protective covering for trouble-free results as long as you follow the instructions from the manufacturer for years with NO issues. Won't your way, just prolong the inevitable? Mine must be 9 years old already, as I put the covering on as soon as I bought me headlights.

And if you use some really crappy paint possibly. I've never had issues with it in the past though.
The code is for the MIVEC cam oil solenoid. It is really smooth at all RPMs. I found the problem is that while changing the belt and removing one of the many bolts I hit the plug end and cracked it to the point of it breaking after driving it on the test drive after the belt change. Now the search begins to find the part and not spend a fortune on it.
