most people i know whether mits, honda, regardless of brand are running act.we have tried centerforce ,exedy etc. unless you are going dual or triple disc the act is the way to go.if you buy all your parts and have them sitting you cant possibly blow your money on something else.if the car is drivable i would drive it easy and wait.buy your parts and save till you have the cash for the install work.someone posted earlier to buy the right parts the first time and i agree.talk to a professional(parts dealer) and tell him how you plan on driving your car and the power level you hope to achieve.if that clutch costs 300.00 more get the one that suits your ultimate goal.good luck.

This thread is full of bad advice. I'm in pretty much the same boat.. clutch is slipping. I have plenty of money for a new clutch, but I'm not going to go out and buy a twin disc anything because I don't need it. Buying parts/mods on a credit card and "just paying the interest" is a horrible idea, especially if you have the money. Or wait two more weeks and drive on a slipping clutch (what I did... been slipping for the past 2 weeks, new one goes on next week.).

You're not making crazy power with those mods, so just get the ACT HDSS kit, use the stock flywheel, and call it a day. Should set you out no more than $450 in parts (if you shop around), and you can either pay someone to install it for another $500, or DIY and pocket the savings. All those other mods (minus the LWFW) can be done at a later date.

I agree with everything he said. with your mods just get a organic ACT disk and you'll be fine. doesn't seem like your pushing mad HP and looks like your only few parts from being stock. as for the credit card thing. i wouldn't go that route. not because credit is bad, cause i use cards every now and then, but it looks like your really struggling to keep up with payments and maintenance and such. why not try to budget yourself instead of buying all these nice parts you don't need (cause i kno you just want to) before you realize your can't afford your EVO and it gets repo'd. seen that way to many times...

why not ask daddy to pay for it. you never mentioned rent or any other expenses so it looks like your still under his roof.

I would purchase what fits your needs, But when ever I replace parts I go for the gusto. I figure I'm slowly building this car up, and now with full bolt ons and my head being built, Im going twin disc for the extra coin.

I think the most important thing for you to consider is the clutch feel, I understand the puck style clutches have a tougher feel.

As far as no lock out issues, it does happen, Refer to Post #1

you should wait until you can afford full cost...i've noticed something....anytime i rush and get someone, its always cheaper here on forum......

i bet in those two weeks, someone will be selling a clutch new for whatever reason...either decided to sell car...or car totaled(god forbid) or anything...just wait two weeks and see what transpires.....

no point in starin at parts for 2 weeks than wishing you got it cheaper elsewhere.

the pucks have a little harsher engagement but i don't wanna get the HDSS and have lock out problems...seems like the lock out problems happen more with them...plus i'm not gonna stay at this power level forever...i budget myself if i did buy these parts i would have enough money to last me 2 weeks plus i know when my payment and insurance are due so i can plan around them...the last thing i want to happen is have the car repoed

You obviously know nothing about how credit works. If you have the money thats all the more reason to put something on a CC and pay it off in 2-3 months. This is a sure way to watch your credit score sky rocket + leaving more money in you bank account is a good thing

Its not like as soon as you buy something on a CC you pay the intrest amount that your card is sorry you were missinformed The intrest in 2-3 months on a 800 purchess is very negible

I dont believe using a CC is a smart Idea if you plan to leave that balance on there for a while and dont have the funds to pay it off promptly.

It all depends on your interest rate. I have great credit, but I think the monthly interest charges are like 10-15% if I carry a balance. I put all my purchases on my credit cards, but I pay them off *IN FULL* every month. Sure, go ahead, put that $1000 clutch on your car, but don't ***** and moan when you find out that it cost you $1200 after three months of interest.

Just some quick math. Assumes a 10%(read: LOW) interest rate:
Month 1: 10% of $800 = $80
Pay $200.
Month 2: 10% of $680 = $68
Pay $400
Month 3: 10% of $448 = $45
Pay $400
Month 4: 10% of $93 = $9

So, congratulations, that $800 clutch just cost you an extra $200+ because you financed it at 10% over 4 months!
