Please help, bought this 3M tape! Strong enough?

Okay putting my Vortex generator on, and I want the strongest 3M tape their is so I bought this tape.

http://www.uline.com/Product/Product...10073&ref=6023

It is suppose to be their strongest, but then I looked at this.

http://boxco.shoppkg.com/shop/C2926.aspx

Different information on same tape :O?

I have already bought it and its suppose to be a strong tape ''heavy duty'' and that its weather resistant and such.

Am I safe putting this 3M under my Vortex generator? Cuz I would like to have it their a few years.

Peace

The 3m tape should be fine. If you don't plan on taking it off than I would say you have nothing to worry about.

You mean I'll be fine with the one I bought? You think it will be strong as ****?

use a heat gun to heat up the take a little bit right before you apply it and it should stick even better

Sounds like you are unsure of the process. Ask some one who done this before. .

When I tried to take mine off it felt like I was gonna rip off everything the tape was holding onto off of the roof... it's good.

+1 I used that 3m tape for everything. It is great for holding aftermarket HID balasts as well. You will be fine.

the tape isn't what you should be worried about.
there's clips inside of the weather strips on both sides of the roof.
gently pull up the weather strip and make sure not to break the little white clips inside.
they are a pain to find and replace.
gently pull that up and insert the end piece of the vortex gen under there and you should be fine.
my friend broke his clips and covered literally, the entire bottom of the vortex gen in 3M double sided tape and still has lost 4 sets of gens on the highway.

i can grab a fin on my vortex gen and pull up on it because my tape no longer sticks but it hasn't gone anywhere because the clips hold it in place.

hope this helps.

I just did a trunk lip with 3M tape and it fell off in my driveway after 3 days. It was my fault though because I didn't prep the area very well. You have to use some kind of alcohol wipes or something that will take off any wax for the area. Other than that it should stay.

Do these heavy duty tapes damage the paint after being attached for a few years?
