Dealer Service Rant
I also agree 100% and dealling with the same situation.
See my thread titled, "Mits is Turnin Into a Freakin Joke with Warranty"
In that thread we are thinking about devising a general letter to be hosted on a website that people with complaints can download, modify to their needs, and then mail to Mits Corp. The reason for doing this is because not everyone knows how to properly format a business letter so I and some others would take care of the formatting, and you guys just download and mail.

I found a good refrence on Implied Warranties.

Implied Warranty of Fitness for a Particular Purpose
An implied warranty of merchantability is a promise that a product or good is fit for its ordinary purpose. An implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose is a promise, again implied by law, by a merchant who knows that a buyer intends to use a product or good for a particular purpose, and has reason to know that the buyer is relying on the merchant's knowledge or expertise, that the product or good is suitable for the buyer's special use or particular purpose.

What I am saying is that it is very difficult to be assured that your service work will be paid by Mitsu if your car is modded AND corporate sees it in that state, without having to jump through hoops to get them to pay. I don't agree with it- but they try to stick it to you first and if you make a big enough stink.... then you have a chance. Not every claim will be denied, but if Mitsu denies it, good luck getting it paid for without spending countless hours on the phone. It does suck. My dealership will fix a modded car, but we have had times where the rep is here for a regular visit, sees a modded car and squashes a warranty claim.
Folks, it's illegal for any dealership to deny you the simple right to modify your car and change your own oil my threatening you with a voided warranty. Here's a good place to start so you can have some ammo should you come upon a situation like this again:
