Disappointed Potential Evo Onwer

(which I might point out the sales manager had me do on a test drive with a blue by you version) Grow up and make your own decisions. You sound like a scared little child. This is one of the finest and best performance cars in the world for the money. Drive it wrong and stupid, it will break - don't take care of it and it will rust. While I think Mitsu is a mile off base on their warranty position since they designed the car to race, but you can understand that many people will do some of the stupid things like overrevving, over boosting, etc. and then claim they were driving to the grocery store. If you want the car buy it, otherwise buy a Honda Accord.

, not speed matching RPM's while shifting
, high-rev clutch drops
...that is not babying the car. Using the car to it's potential responsibly is still babying it, in my book.Oh, and the Evo is my daily driver. I complain about the paint, but it paint chips are weight reduction.
My biggest complaint is Mistu of North America, not my particular dealership. I wish they would have offered this car without warranty. Even if they would have sold the Evo for $1,000 less with no warranty, I would have been all over that. It isn't that I am scared to modify my car, I just HATE hearing the scare tactics they use on people.
- Must use Mobile 1
- No power adders of any kind, including a BOV (a BOV is a power adder?)
- No aftermarket clutches
- bla bla bla
It is pointless for them to say all this to me. They should just stop wasting my time with the nonsense. I know what I would be getting in to with building the car up, but the ridiculous stance of a blow off valve being an "entire drivetrain warranty" voiding part is stupid.
Thanks to Mistubishi for bringing this car to the US, finally. However, stop with the nonsense and scare tactics. They might work on 17 year old kids. However, most 17 year olds won't ever own an Evo while it is still under warranty.

I love the evo, if I posted every good thing that happend and liked about the car, I would be typing for the next year! The car is awesome, and I have had no problems or rust, just lots of other cars that can't keep up! This forum is for any one that needs help or have questions or just wants to have a shout out, (things can go wrong when you modify a car) and you will see that on here. But we all love our EVO, and every time i drive it. I love it more!

This is why i went out and bought a '00 VW 1.8T to tool around in... it's nice to not be abused while driving your car...

If he thinks there a lot of problems with the EVO8, he should check out the RX7 forums........ enough said already. Lets talk about how great this car is.... Why isnt it a daily driver? I love the stiff ride. Its fun to make fast turns around corners in traffic and put it on three wheels!!!!! What BMW does that? Let alone a "Rustang". Please go buy a Civic. I heard they are maintenance free!!!
Some of you guys are truly thick-headed, im not even going to bother to name names. First off, just because in YOUR personal experience, you've had no problems with the car, does not somehow mean that they universally do not exist. YOUR experience is not the measure of all things, wow what a concept. To say that the other people's problems are are just *****ing is flat out ignorant. If you were lucky enough to not experience any problems (or flatly refuse to acknowledge them), good for you.
Secondly, I was only citing issues like the rust and clutch and the paint and whatnot as examples, examples of issues that clearly have enough merit to become more than the sole problem of a some guy who happened to get a lemon. It is prevalent enough, though in small numbers, to actually BE an issue, one that the manufacturer certainly should have, or at least, be willing to take care of.
NO AMOUNT of "its a performance car" or "its a 30k monster" can justify shoody worksmanship, if you think just because its the best peformance bargain for 30k, you should somehow accept inherent problems, or if you basically think people should "stop *****ing" just because, then thats fantastic.
Note that I never said these problems are in all the cars, in fact it is probably a fair low proportion of them. To not put them into consideration is just plain stupid, especially since many dealerships are using the "its a racing car" addage to deny LEGITIMATE claims.
Finally, NOWHERE did i complain about other obvious characteristics of a car of this performance caliber. Things like ride quality, road noise, etc are part of the experience. If you cannot these inherent joys of a performance vehicle, then the Evo is definitely not a choice for you.
And please, don't tell me to go buy a civic, or other lamer insults like that. It only goes to show how weak your argument is. If you want to counter, please present a valid argument instead saying "stop wiNNing, UR a WUSSY Biatch, go ride a f**king moPEd"

Supah Fly any Car, model, manufacturer have problem. Check out the 7th gen TOYOTA celica, bad synchros, throw out bearings, belt tensioner squek, misc rattles, lift bolt problem etc. Now thats a toyota!!! BMW "was" denying SOME warranty on blown M3 engines, imagine paying $10k+ for an engine out of your pocket.
Give me a make and model, ill tell you what "issues" it have. Go get a mountain bike im pretty sure those dont have "issues".
Bad things get magnified 100x no matter how little it is, good things gets unnoticed.

I am thick headed, I'll be the first to admit it.
I think that stupid complaints like "cheap plastic, road noise, stiff ride, and SOME gear noise" are just that......stupid.
I know that all cars have problems, but think about it for a minute. If they are telling you that because it is a race car, they are not going to warranty stuff, then why do you have synchros and helical gears in your transmission? I thought it was a race car? Don't fight this with me, I am just saying to you what you should ask the dealership.
Not directed at you, but I am really starting to think that this car should have came to the US with no warranty at all. I bet we could have got it for like $22,000 if that was the case. If they would have sold it "AS IS" brand new, there is no way they could have charged $30,000 for it....Well, yeah, they could have.....but come on...
It should have been a deletable option. Some people have genuine problems....ok. But every chump that goes out and rapes the tranny and then takes it to the dealership for warranty work when he hears gear gringing on deceleration....Well, that is just pathetic. Suck it up and realize that if you wanna play, you gotta pay. Like it or not, this car is built for the street, not the track. True, it does great on the track, but it is not warrantied for that. Tell your insurance company that you are going to the track for a day and want coverage....see what happens. Mine tripples. I have already asked. Straight up tripple the rate I am paying now. The funny part is, 99% of the time, the track is safer than public roads. But how many of us argue that point with the insurance companies?
Ok, done ranting. I pass the soapbox to the next guy......

Agh, enough of this. I still drool everytime i see one tho
Anyone in SoCali have any experiences with Torrance Mitsu? I think im heading there this weekend.
Ahhh. Evo's have been around for a decade. Ours is generation 8. The same iron block used since the 4G63 was developed just better refined. Mitsu put in a great deal of safe guard for US Evo such as pig rich air/fuel ratio, lower boost at upper rpm, three syncros for the first 2 gears, and so on. Why? so the car will last and take quite of a bit of abuse by drivers like us. This is a solid car no doubt.
Problems? I have none. I burned the clutch till it stunk like a dead animal because my leg was too lazy and I wasn't paying attention, stupid me. But after awhile the clutch worked BETTER than before. I could go on and on how great this $30k car is but I won't since majority of REAL Evo owners will agree.
Evo's with problems, well they could be just a bad batch or it could be the driver thinking his driving a tank (probably destroy the tank in their hands). Who knows what some of the drivers do to their Evo's. In their hand, any good car would be a lemon. But I believe some don't even own an Evo, just putting out crap cause they are jealous they didn't wait and bought some other car that they are not HAPPY with. I would be mad too hearing how much fun Evo owners are having.
If I ever get a problem with my Evo that was not caused by me, I will post it like I'm on fire. But thats not gonna happen. Evo's are just too solid.
