It's getting hot in here
Am I the only who's getting a face full of hot air when I run the normal vented air from outside? The air coming in (with the climate control set to cool) is typical 10-20 degrees hotter than the ambient air. This is fine in the winter, but it's really starting to suck during the summer.
If everybody is experiencing this, has anybody tried wrapping the vent piping/tubing with insulation to prevent unwanted heatsoak? It's becoming an issue because I can't hear the radar detector with the windows rolled down and the engine screaming at 6000 rpm

actually my galant does the same thing. when you turn it on for the first time its not hot. but when you turn it on after teh engine has been run it will be hot. this is due to the vacum not piping the air from the heatercore while off. if you notice you will feel it when the ac is off and the windows or sunroof are open. turn on the a/c for a moment to blow all that hot air out from there or turn on the recirculation button while the windows are down so you will not have teh "hot air" blown though. hope that helps.

I noticed the same thing this summer because I rarely run the A/C... Closing the vents (using that little dial on the vent) keeps the air out too. Its weird though, but I hate to say it but its fairly normal, the air is sucked in from a location where there is alot of heat already. My car is Tarmac black, so no matter WHERE the air comes from, its been heated by something if its sunny.. hehe..
I think this is the case for all cars. I've never experienced 'Cool' air blowing without the A/C. I'm not sure where the air is getting sucked, but I think it's somewhere near the front engine bay
. If so, then the engine's radient heat will heat the air coming into the interior.
Drive another car (wife, g/f, parent's), and see if it's the same effect.

I think this is caused by the hot air coming from the heat vent on the hood going into the air vent at the base of the windshield. There is no way around this, just need to live with it.
Yep I have the same problem on my EVO and have not had this problem on any of my other cars. I also think that it is caused by the heat extractor. Oh well, I really like how the heat extractor does its job, so I will live with it. Do you guys see all of the heat coming out of it when you are at a light???

I know I'm totaly OT but your sig makes me wonder what you do for a living. I love it.
