Im just wondering... I have an MR and for some odd reason its always in the back of my head.. Why didnt i get a GSR.. I guess the whole tranny issue bothers me a little bit. But than again its not that big of an issue lol..
Let me know..

Only time I thought that was while driving a road course a few different days and keeping my fingers crossed the tranny wouldnt go pop- aside from that I love it! Can always throw in a built 5 speed anyways if that happens down the road
All I wanted was the MR and so I got one, its funny how people seem to be more scared of an Evo MR when they see one. I am a little afraid of what everyone says about them being weak with lots of power but time will tell. So far love the MR all exept for the paint on the hood of my red one does not seem to stick to the alum. I got tons of chips on my hood. I mean tons, I do understand that doing 150+ can do that also but really I dont think I should have this many, I am going to be in the market for a CF soon when money comes around.

I always wanted the topdog evo hence the IX MR was the easy choice. unless you track or race your car every weekend, the 6 speed will hold its own. It is even the tranny of choice of the FQ360, no worries
I'm not a road racer so no, and if the tranny breaks then there is always a 5 speed Shep swap.
I LOVE the 6speed more than my old VIII 5speed (not the same as the IX 5speed I know)
Besides I love the Bilsteins and I'm going to attempt to get them re valved when I have more miles on em

no regrets i bet the 6 speed can take atlease 450ish right? either way im not a daily racer even tho the car seems like it is... it feels good to have the top dog evo and it is beter for daily use...
I made a thread like this a few months ago: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...tain-trim.html
I'm on the opposite side of the fence. I have a gsr and sometimes wish I had gotten the MR.
When I was researching and then eventually buying my car I had said early on the I would not be getting an MR due to the tranny issues. To be honest I looked at the MRs and said what's the big deal about them other than the HIDs (My thought on the HIDs was that I wanted JDM headlights so it was a null point). I only wanted a Wicked White IX, so my only other options were a RS (Was not even considering), GSR, SSL. (THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE SE IN WICKED WHITE)
I eventually found a GSR with 10k miles, stock, clean as ****. This was before the whole financial crisis went out of control and at the time I was under the impression that if I didn't buy in a few months I would never get a low mile IX (Which is clearly not the case anymore). So I bought the car and I had it shipped from florida.
Then I got the car and a month or two later reality struck me. I wasn't made of money. The JDM evo8 MR headlights, Volk ce28ns/Advan RS, hid kit or stock hid setup cost a lot of money and won't happen right away. So was going with the GSR over the MR the right thing to do considering the tranny might not break? Was potentially saving 3-4k on a tranny replacement worth it for getting a less visually appealing stock spec?
I really do not know and every once in a while I do think about it over and over...
I should also mention that I will be taking this car to track events and autox.

Well here is one for you. I regret getting my evo at times. I had a eclipse GSX that i had built decently. And i sorta wish i kept that. And it woulda been paid off. But o well i got my Evo now and love that now.
