Harness bar vs. Roll Bar?
#18
Are you looking into getting a harness to hold you into the seat better? The cheaper, easier, and more convenient way is to get a CG lock. This way you don't need a harness bar or roll bar to mount the harness to. This is what I do for the few track days I do a year.

Using a harness bar usually leads to using a racing harnesses (5 or 6 pt) that should not be used without a roll bar & racing seat.
Instead, either get a roll bar so that you can use the correct harness, or use a belt that is designed to be installed without a harness bar utilizing the stock mounting locations - such as the TUV & DOT approved Schroth with ASM harnesses.
Both a roll bar and harness bar make the rear seats unsafe for rear passengers, even if people put foam around it. For best human protection, you should be using the expensive dense stuff (like this: http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...p?Product=2391), not the cheap foam stuff (like this: http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...p?Product=2390).

PS - fixed my Schroth

Wide opinion is that using a harness with no cage is dangerous in a roll over etc.. this is true but at the same time you are probably at as much risk with standard seatbelt so it's a personal choice..
I've seen a rollover recently whereby the harness probably saved a life.. no cage.. but if you can afford it.. save up and go the cage anyway if you're looking to seriously track the car

I'm running a harness bar and like someone said on here it gives me an excuse to tell people you can't ride in the backseat unless you really have no choice. I'm not worried about being in a rollover accident plus I'm planning on getting a roll cage once this car isn't my dd and I can turn it into a track monster.
