RS vs Normal vs SE

I am looking to buy a 5 speed Evolution IX! I heard the 6 speed is a slush box and both top gears of the 5 speed and the 6 sped are the same ratio. I found it is pretty hard to find an Evo RS for sale, I want a Rally Red one. SEs are not all that hard to come by but I like the roll up windows and lightness of the RS. I know there isnt much difference between the normal Evo and the SE except for horsepower. Would it be hard to convert a normal Evo or SE to RS specs?

yeah everyone makes the same power, the differences are the interior of the SE is a bit different and the MR has a 6 speed and the GSR is a 5 speed with a nice interior and the RS im not sure about much about it but its lighter and manual everything

all Evo's have the same power. BTW I am selling my car IX GSR (10,560 miles) here is a link to some of the specs. A freind of mine that lives in Colorado posted the car on his website: http://www.highaltitudeperformance.c...read.php?t=320 you can PM me for pics and details. I hope you like it, but it is not red; white actually...

I wouldn't do it bro, weight difference is not that great, and you will have to get the RS door panels, window mechanisms, rs mirrors, door handles, console (no armrest) remove all your trunk lining/padding and also remove the firewall between the engine and main cabin (I think there is also no insulation/padding in the floor of the cabin) Oh and almost forgot, if you get a normal evo, you need to swap the roof for the aluminum one. I personally own a JDM evo RS (rally red, the ONLY color for evos... j/k ) but my car came with power everything from the factory, a wing and climate control. Sometimes I wish I had a sunroof also ..... anyways, I would suggest get any RR evo IX, you will enjoy it the same

I usually recommend the SE. Because you get the better looking wheels, lower front lip, aluminum roof, and the red stitching on the interior.

Do not get a sunroof, I have seen several of the dent/bend the roof at the rear corners of the sun roof. I think it is mostly on cars with stiff aftermarket suspension though, it just is not designed for a sun roof.

I had a RS for a long time and loved it also, but the power locks, windows and ABS on the other models are worth it.

Buy the car you like, they are all used now so find the nicest low mileage one in your price range.
