Surface rust under back passenger side door

I was giving the evo a good cleaning the other day when I spotted a decent sized spot of rust. Its just surface rust, but I've never dealt with it before on any of my other cars. I dont know where to begin to cure it. Also, because cars have a "rust" warranty would this be covered by something like this?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take it to the dealer - rust should be covered.

Yeah pics. I heard that dealers (this is from GM I think) won't cover rust warranty unless it has rusted all the way through, which is BS. Try the dealer and if they won't do anything, then depending on how big it is and where it's at, sand it a little and use touch up paint to stop it.

The evo bodies aren't built as good as the motors are haha. The worst spot i've seen was the two bottom bolts for the fender. Even with those washers there, it still gets rusted

I had my rust taken care of by my dealer. No issues. Drove in, looked at it, called the rep - fix it.

Same here I had two rust spots fixed no problem at the dealer. One on the trunk and one on the drivers door sill. Worth stopping at the dealer and at least trying

Would you guys think they would cover an 06 mr that I am looking to purchase if it has some surface rust appearing on the underside of the left motor mount, and also some appearing on the underside of the transfer case?
