Thinking of selling EvO
Im wanting to sell my evo too.No doubt I will own another one eventually. I think Id be happier had I bought an evo 9 instead of an 8. Im almost 25 and I have this bug as well, but its not my age. Its a never-ending battle from within because I love so many different cars and different types of driving. One week I want a luxurious cruiser, the next I want a turbo beast for the straights, then its on to something big on 24" rims or maybe even a bike....catch my drift....Yea drifting thats fun too
maybe Ill want something rwd with super wide rims. If I hit the lotto Ill surely have a crammed garage.
For now Im stuck with the evo which quite frankly isnt a punishment.

I drove a '02 M3 then '06 STi (I know it's not an evo, but similar turbo + awd)
Even though M3 was nice in terms of luxury and performance, you'll be very sad to ditch the turbo and AWD, especially if you live in a rainy/snowy area. I remember driving the m3 after some rain. I couldn't even accelerate lol. The STi on the other hand, I was comfortable going 80 in the snow.
I'd say it won't be a bad idea to switch over to luxury, but you give up the fun and excitement of driving.

what an arrogant poster.
your assessment of "all around" is off. a low-slung, two door sports car doesn't afford many options and is hardly "all around car with all the bells and whistles".
i'm actually getting back into an evo once i can find someone to buy my m3. the evo is much more of an all-rounder and real-world car, and i'll need its multiple talents for future life events.

I thought you would have read into "all around" meaning "all around" sports car. Total package meaning its looks, speed, amenities, and handling!! Not which car is more utililtarian, can seat 5, or can go faster for cheaper and I don't need the seating for future events. The Z06 isn't a DD it's meant for the weekends, so for me a two seat sports car is what I wanted!! You have different needs good luck with your future EVO purchase they are great cars
**This is not a For Sale thread**
Well, I'm debating if I should sell my evo.
Details on my car:
2005 Evo with 37K miles.
CBRD BBK full (CBRD has done all the work/tune on the car)
GSC S1 cams
GSC catback
MR 02 housing/downpipe/testpipe
Walbro
ETS IC, UIPC, intake
Nisei LICP
ARP headstuds
DV
BR ported exhaust manifold/hotside
Advan RS 18x9
MR coilovers
Defi gauges
No vinyl stickers (gotta stay clean)
Basically every bolt-on except a ported IM/TB (which is on its way)
I'm 28 (almost 29) and just think it's time to step up to a luxury car. I was looking at the new 2009 Audi A4 or BMW 335i. The car looks pretty bad@ss. I can't make up my mind on what to do. I think I'm getting tired of driving a loud import. I would love to keep the evo and buy the Audi, but I just don't want to put myself in that situation.
Don't get me wrong, I love to drive her still but I don't go to the track or autocross. Not sure if I should sell it or not.
Anybody else in this situation?? Any feedback would be helpful.
Like I said, this is not a for sale thread, so Mods please don't move it there. Just want some feedback from people who are or were in this same situation. What did you do and do you regret selling or keeping the evo?
Please don't post "Sell it, your not an evo fan, blah blah blah".
Jason
Jason,
Only you can decide if it's time to move on, but don't sell it if you're worried about the age and maturity thing. It looks like you have spent alot of monies on a nice bunch of mods and finally have the car right where you want it, and the car with your milage is just broken in.
For me I'm 47 years old, and have the financial means to buy about any production car it the world and just absolutely love my evo. It handles stock like it's on rails, with a few power mods it's faster than poo poo, it has a rear trunk for groceries, put a ski rack on it and take it up to the mountains, it get 20+ mpg, and with proper maintenance it has really good Japanese reliability.
Remember they don't make the evo 8 and 9's anymore, and to buy a creampuff back if you decide you don't like the 335 is gonna be difficult and costly.
if you're interested in an E30 M3, let me know! i am hoping to find a white evo 9. i was exactly in the same situation you're in (minus the 95 civic) as i recently refinanced too (4.75%, if i do say so myself) but my house is a total wreck right now so i''ll be right back.
i went through 7 different high performance cars before finally being happy with an Evo. Everything else had something that I didnt like. After all, nothing gets traction like an Evo, handles like an Evo, or can be easily modded to gain great power like an Evo. Luxury and automatic transmission=nice, but boring
I went through the same sentiment back in 2004. Sold my Evo, bought a Porsche, drove it for a few years, and then went back to another Evo. I think you ultimately end up paying a lot for image but get very little back in terms of driving experience or performance. If you want something that's more comfortable, I totally understand it but don't buy it because you feel like you need to fit in at the office. You'll only end up regretting your decision.
Cosign. Most people who buy luxury sports cars are shallow and not concerned with the car's performance.
I just bought a '09 Audi A4 with the prestige package (actually my wifes daily driver) and absolutely love it! I would be lying if I haven't thought about selling the WW IX RS in on one. But if you want more of a drivers A4 the '06 is much more "sporty" then the new one. The '09 they tried hard to make it ride cushy and missed the boat on the feel department. Just my 2 cents.

Just exploring my options. Like I said, I'm in process of refinancing my home, then I'll worry about it later.
i test drove a 9 today. and i instantly remembered why i sold the m3, even though it was the e30.
i'm not even gonna lie.. you have a nice evo on your hands brother.. but after a while your probably gonna wanna step up.. even if it's too a newer model.. But it is soley based on preference. Personally i won't get rid of my evo once i get it for a good few years.
