dont sell it to try up your image cause you moved up in the world...
its just an image.... not worth it in my opinion
but if your that worried about peoples opinions, sell it

at the end of the day, they are just cars and have nothing to do with the person themselves that drive them. f all that image bs

An SUV doesn't automatically equal safe.

I was just pointing out want an absurd reason yours was for keeping a car when there are plenty of cars that are "safer" then an Evo according to crash test data. I used side impact as reference since the Evo historically scored badly on side impacts compared to other car in it's class.

Well, I'm debating if I should sell my evo.

Details on my car:

2005 Evo with 37K miles.
CBRD BBK full (CBRD has done all the work/tune on the car)
GSC S1 cams
GSC catback
MR 02 housing/downpipe/testpipe
Walbro
ETS IC, UIPC, intake
Nisei LICP
ARP headstuds
DV
BR ported exhaust manifold/hotside
Advan RS 18x9
MR coilovers
Defi gauges
No vinyl stickers (gotta stay clean)
Basically every bolt-on except a ported IM/TB (which is on its way)

I'm 28 (almost 29) and just think it's time to step up to a luxury car. I was looking at the new 2009 Audi A4 or BMW 335i. The car looks pretty bad@ss. I can't make up my mind on what to do. I think I'm getting tired of driving a loud import. I would love to keep the evo and buy the Audi, but I just don't want to put myself in that situation.

Don't get me wrong, I love to drive her still but I don't go to the track or autocross. Not sure if I should sell it or not.

Anybody else in this situation?? Any feedback would be helpful.

Like I said, this is not a for sale thread, so Mods please don't move it there. Just want some feedback from people who are or were in this same situation. What did you do and do you regret selling or keeping the evo?

Please don't post "Sell it, your not an evo fan, blah blah blah".

Jason

Honestly it does come to you being a fanboy of the EVO or not. If you have a feeling of moving on to a luxury car then go with your instincts. I am 27 almost 28 and I do understand sometimes its nice just relax and chill. If you really want the luxo car then get it. Those cars get really boring for me quick

I think he was simply pointing out that the ability to avoid an accident in adverse conditions is better than surviving and accident with minimal injuries. The evo is easy to control even when drifting sideways, or in non-paved situations. That handling characteristic, coupled with a good set of brakes made a difference for him. As a System Safety Engineer, I can see his point.

Just my 2c

To me the EVO can be made into a better autocross car, short track car, even a better 9 second car, definitely a better street race type car. It is not better at delivering the total package though. Especially when pump gas, leather, amenities, looks, etc are factored in.

It's all personal preference in the end though, so to the OP make your own decison. Where the EVO made me feel looks, interior, exhaust noise, boyracer image, race gas, street manners. The Z06 shines I'm going to ride in a 670whp pump gas C6 Z06 next week!!

Again, if I wanted a dedicated street race type car and that's it or a dedicated track car the EVO would still be my favorite. For a all around sports car with killer looks and all the bells and whistles I made my choice and it's clear to me which car is better at that.

FWIW, I'll be spending a little $$$$ on the Z06 putting it around 560whp on pump gas. Should trap 133-135mph and that is good enough for me with all the bells and whistles.
what an arrogant poster.

your assessment of "all around" is off. a low-slung, two door sports car doesn't afford many options and is hardly "all around car with all the bells and whistles".

i'm actually getting back into an evo once i can find someone to buy my m3. the evo is much more of an all-rounder and real-world car, and i'll need its multiple talents for future life events.

There are already a lot of really good posts here, but I thought I would throw out another idea for ya- I am almost 28, came to the Evo after owning 4 Audi Quattros, and the (only) thing I miss about them is the nice interior. Maybe if you consider keeping your Evo try to do some mods for making it both more livable and classier... The idea of going wingless is a really good one for exterior, and quieter exhaust could help as well, but also consider dressing up the interior. You could have the dash/armrest/door panels/even the seats wrapped in suede, and add nice carbon fiber accents. Maybe if you haven't already you could upgrade your gauges to some nicer ones that also appear like they came that way from the factory. Those things could make your Evo feel more upscale and livable for daily driving without making you sacrifice your car (and the money you have spent on upgrades). Also, consider the long-term plan for your Evo, and whatever you would replace it with. Would the Evo satisfy your need for speed if you had a different daily driver? Would it still 5 years from now? Would a new BMW end up boring and you end up modding it as well and be in the same boat about what to do with it in a few years? There will always be newer/better cars coming out and every few years something new and exciting that feels like a "must-have" car. Its hard to know how I will feel about my own Evo in a few years, but until I really don't enjoy it anymore I'll keep it, and I really gotta say it is nice to have a daily driver (mine is an inexpensive '95 4Runner 4x4 and I LOVE it!) it makes you appreciate the Evo and feel like its special when you take it out. I almost sold mine a little while back, even listed it... but couldn't part with it because I knew I would regret it.

There are some on here that will totally ignore me since I'm just an RA but i hope you don't...
this is just my 2cents..
I love my car wouldn't have got it otherwise, yeah sure some out grow there current vehicle but some don't. I have no experience with the bmw's and audi's but others i do, driving my wifes car flat out annoys me (09 ES) it just doesn't feel right same with my sister Mazda3...i could name a million others but i would recommend if a friend or co worker has what your thinking of getting, cuz test drives really aren't long enough, if you trust them and visa versa trade keys for a few days see if you can handle not having the evo or if you get bored with an auto(i know i do)

Either way good luck with your decision, I don't fully understand the age thing im 23 with family but i love my ride and adding stuff to it and you can make any car one of a kind.

be sure to post your choice i know i'll be interested in it..

I have a daily driver. a 95 Honda Civic. Like I posted before, I LOVE driving the evo. I just feel that a luxury car would be nice as well.

I'm probably going to go wingless and get a Rexpeed lip. Getting a retune soon with a few goodies.

About to refinance my house and will make my final decision about the car then
