Motor Trend long term EVO test

8615 miles.

"Problem areas - none"
Non warranty cost - $158.90 for 2 routine maintenance services (oil change/tire rotation).

They say it would be nicer with less turbo lag and they wish it had a 6 speed for easier freeway cruising.

The real point IMO is the lack of trouble. There is a recent thread/poll about how many folks have experienced no serious problems with a lot of folks saying they've had none. The Motor Trend piece agrees. So do I at 3K.

AUtomobile didn't report on their long term evo either, When are they goign to complain about the lack of cruise - the only really worthwhile oversight on the car so Mitsu gets the picture? otherwise reliability wise, they seam 99% rock solid and I can't wait to see Automobiles views next month Dec.

Glad to hear. Although I'm only at <600 miles, this car has been great.

if you don't LAUNCH your car hard, then you can expect not to have problems...

10000 miles and no problems other than a few annoying rattles. I LOVE my car!

14,900 and no problems, plus autox, rallyx, and one track day. And I'm still on the original tires. But I've got my all-seasons ordered.

Just for the record, 8,000 miles is far short of how long the car is suppose to last under warranty so until someone puts one over 36k with no problems, nothing has really been proven.

It's not like car magazines, go to a dealer and pay and pick up the same car you do. The cars they get a submitted by MMC and are usually very much thoroughly gone over to make sure nothing is wrong. This doesn't mean that nothing ever does go wrong.

What I've always wondered is, how come no magazine has said anything about a smelling clutch, they can't be getting those 0-60 times without dropping it, so what's up with that?

I've got close to 13K on my car and haven't had any problems, I am worried about my clutch because something doesn't feel right, but it hasn't broken yet. It sure has been a hell of a lot more reliable than my last car SVTF.
