WC cars make WAY more power than advertised. I race in the WC a few years ago and currently run in the grand-am SGS class w/ a gt3 cup. The evo would need 450hp at 2700 lbs (weight w/ driver, dont think an evo could get that light) and prob 275 size tires all the way around to be close in performance. Lets not even go into the driveline (trans, diffs ect..) Prob need a rally like sequential trans for longevity. The cady's have been so heavily modded to be competetive they are closer to the C5-R's in the ALMS series than a street driven CTS-V. WC IS considering a change in the series though to slow down the GT cars. They KNOW that cars like the evo. sti ect... cannot be competetive right now so they are considering changes to significantly slow down the "big" guys and give the privateers w/ relatively small budgets a chance. Remember, SCCA is based on private entries w/ allot of field diversity and w/ factory and big budget teams involved, it doesnt take too long to drift from what caused WC to be successful in the first place. The WC cars are VERY fast. I bet they could easily compete in the ALMS or Grand-Am GT classes if they switched form the toyo R compound race tires to real slicks. Anyway, GOOD LUCK if an attempt is made. I would love to see an evo runnning in a pro race soon.

That would be super cool. Race prepped Evos hold a lot of track records around the world... It's an incredible platform.

I second that. The Volvos were making exactly the power that was supposed to be competitive at the weight they were running and they were qualifying outside the top twenty! You actually need about 600+hp and remember it needs to last through qualifying and the race (70minutes total). SCCA wants all cars to last 4-5 races between engine rebuilds.

An EVO could be competitive but it would take a very well funded effort to invest in the R&D to make them live at those levels. It's crazy competitive in W.C.
They run near Trans-Am or ALMS GT times on street tires

We've talked about it and would love too if the budjet was there to do it propperly. Maybe EVOm could do a fund raiser

Wow, wow, wow. I would cut off a pinky toe to see this happen. A fully built race evo would destroy all.

Do they allow forced induction in the ALMS Grand Am series?

I think that someone likely voted in the poll or edited their post...

I find it funny that this thread keeps popping up. Since it is obvious that the original poster just had his head in the clouds.

OK somebody kill this thread please, it gets my hopes up every time & I don't think that guy is ever going to run his evo in this series, or ever post again.
