Don't get confused by this. My car has mods and my car has been covered under warranty on three different occasions, no questions asked. IF you compete with your car and break it, you deserve to have to pay - that has nothing to do with what's going on here.

The facts are:
1. He bought the car used from a non-Mitsu dealer.
2. The car had preexisting damage and wasn't serviced (i.e. brake pads) before being sold.
3. He has an extended warranty and maybe regular vehicle warranty we don't know.

You should try getting a Mitsu dealer to diagnose the car then go after the warranty company to fix it. As for the brakes, well you are SOL on them.

i under stand im SOL on the pads and tires. those are wear items. i have no issues with that stuff.

And there IS a factory warrenty left.

Today marks the second week of the car dealer with there up there butts.

Got a call saying they are going to turn it back over to and let them "visually inspect" the tranny AGAIN. Not pull it apart yet. The only way that this could be beneficial in my eyes is if your SUPER MAN WITH X-Ray VISION. I mean come on.

So i stressed the importance that they should pull it apart then i think the problem will be pretty obvious.

Either:

1) Tell them to fix it in good time.
2) Return the vehicle and get your money back.
3) Hire a lawyer if it gets worse.
Lemon Law is a loosely thrown around term.

Take it to a Mitsu dealer.
THANK YOU!

so heres my addition, Im going through the same situation that you are going through. Im working on a car that has bent valves and leaking EVERYTHING.. .Intercooler, t/b seal, no crash beams, no window sprayers, ect. I had tried to go through the Lemon Law process, but it is a VERY LONG and drawn out process... I would seriously recommend using either the internet or a family lawyer to find your state specific lemon law... Good luck with your car.. We've chose to just pay out of pocket to fix our problems and get this bad boy on the road.

Good Luck

Ed

My recommendation to you is

My SRT-4 was a lemon. Took about a year for the Lemon process to be complete. So I got to pay the full car payment and full coverage insurance on it for a full year even though it was hardly ever driven.

In the end they gave me back "some" of the money I paid towards the car payment. But it sucks that my $160 a month insurance was for absolutely nothing!!

I just got back from test driving my car. I had some confidence in mitsu since they said they have road tested it and nothing has happend. But i quickly found out how far off that assumption was.

I show up and the *** of a service manager says "oh ur tank is empty and ur lights on." I respond with "really? i brought it to you with a full tank?" He replies, we road tested it, with a smile.

I proceeded to mumble under my breath a few words before conveying the fact u didn't have to drive it 250 miles to see if it acted up. So i take it and take it for a test and go to the gas station and first shift into 4th it does it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF!!!!!!!!!!

They waste my gas and tell me its done when it clearly isnt. So i took the tech for a ride and he responds with "Oh, that noise?" i told him how could u not hear the LOUD GRINDING!!! His response, "I wasnt looking for that"

needless to say i loose it at that point. I make them give me a gas refund and take my car back over to the place i bought it (where i still have the warrenty)
after they told me to take it to mitsu. Even they were saying wtf.

So this is the third week of no car and no progress being made and 250 miles put on my car cause they were ****in hot roding it around.

Anyone know how to make a Nuclear missile?

What a nightmare. I think you should find another dealer and in the meantime call Mitsu customer service and tell them about it.

Wow im sorry to hear about all of this man. And I would be bull**** if the techs drove my car for 250 miles. You have no idea what they were doing. I had warranty issues with my car at 14000 miles. They voided my warranty complete BS i might add. I spoke to the manager explaining the situation and he told me he would get back to me after the weekend. I never got another call from him...Stay strong and stick with it. Do not for whatever reason let them get away with this! Good luck man!

monday- dont get a call and then i have to call him by 4:30. all they did was switch the oil. and guess what it still does it. Now the guy says he is gathering info to present to his managers so he can figure out with the next step is.

My guess is they put the wrong fluid in the tranny, or no fluid at all. Car was driven with the wrong fluid / no fluid and is now toast and they are trying to figure out how to get out of there stupid mistake that will cost them thousands of dollars.

I take it the issue did not appear till after they did the service correct?

correct. It never did it until they did the service. Then the first day coming home from work (which is a 40 mile freeway round trip) it started to act funny. The next day it went in.

The place said if mitsu wont stand behind it then they wont and im paying for a bogus extended warranty they wont stand behind.

I should be receiving a call this after noon about what the final decission is. hopefully it will be a and i wont have to scalp anyone.

Those warranties are almost always bogus (the extra ones you pay extra for). The only time I'd ever get one is if they threw it in the deal for the car (like a Subaru dealership was trying to do with an over priced used STi I was looking at, they threw in a 6/60k and 10/100k to try to make up for the fact that the car was a POS).

Also, same sort of thing happened with my TC. Mitsu put the wrong fluid in it, it went bad about a week later... Oh well, I've learned from my many mistakes, I hope you do too.

PS: I told you Mitsu was going to be BS. And Mitsu customer service will pretend like they care, and then do absolutly nothing to remedy the situation. Try and find another Mitsu dealer nearby to take a look at it, some of them are good, most are horrible.

I hate to see anyone in that type of situation because I've been in a couple similar ones my self before. Return the car if you still can and demand refund. Then you can take your money and start over, you could be better off that way. Good luck.

There's a reason I didn't get an Evo again, and it isn't because they aren't great cars... Nor is it because I think STis are better... It's because I never want to deal with ever again.
