Good luck bikerboy, I tried giving you advice, and got shot down by someone who thinks their side of advice is better. I will not tear this thread apart by further one sided arguing. Hopefully it does get covered under Mitsu's warranty (it was not covered by the extended contract, I assume from your statement, correct?). Your situation is what happened with me, only it was the motor and not the trans. They offered to tear it down and see whether it would be covered or not, and it wound up not being covered "here's the bill"

My "advice" to you is to let them tear it down and see if they will cover it. If not, say "Thank you very much" pay for whatever you have to pay for (hopefully it isn't much) and leave, send the parts off to get rebuilt by one of the reputable builders on here or order a new one. To this day I regret saying "Fine, just fix it" rather than just having the car towed to another local shop and getting the motor built, especially since the build and install would've been about 2k less.

What about having a reputable shop that will work with you on the situation and having them tear down the transmission and bringing it to Mitsu....have them tell you yes they will cover it or no they won't. If they do.....once its ordered and in you take it to the local aftermarket reputable shop and have them put it in. If they won't then send it to Shep/Buschur/jacks/ETC and get it rebuilt stronger and hopefully never worry about it again.

Mitsu may provide a rental once they determine the damage to be covered under warranty + all parts and labor will be covered. So its a dice roll either way, because you don't know the previous history of the car, whether it had been modded or not so its a tough call. I'm a bit leery of letting anybody but Mitsu open the car up because they could possibly claim negligence on the other shop's part and refuse service on it later.

You just have to decide which is more valuable, and weigh out the time left on each warranty.

Don't let a dealer do that to you. Tell them, and make sure you aren't lying, that you know your rights. Tell them it is evident that their abuse cause the syncro to go bad in the first place. Tell them you're willing to settle for this cooperating in fixing the vehicle under warranty instead of making things complicated.

How is this turning out?!

so far the dealer gave it to the transmission company to crack it open and see whats up. They said it was there 3 days ago and that they have it apart and they are waiting on parts. But today my dad and I swung by and checked on it to make sure they werent BSin.

And of course my car hasnt been touched. So i walked into the tranny place and i was pissed and determined for answers. But i was greated by the owner and his son (a family business ) and they took plenty of time to talk to me about what was going on.

They just recieved the car the day before and they haven't had it apart, so the dealer covered there buts by not sending it for days. But he takes care of there transmission issues and was a straight up honest guy. The guy was very appreciative of the car and what it was, so it was nice to have some one not just look at it and think it was a civic with a big wing.

So he is taking it apart first thing monday and will have an answer as to what the final verdict is. It just will be 4 weeks with no car by the time we determine this. I dont know why the dealer stalled so long and wasted three weeks of my time instead of sending it over and tearing it apart.

Demand compensation for your time... free rental, something of that nature?

I would be raising hell for this. All they did was joy ride your car. Call the Mitsu district service manager. Call the BBB. Call the dealer owner. I would NEVER go back to this dealer.

tell me you aren't still going to this dealer. They jacked you big time and you let them get away with it, now they are going to keep jacking you.

i yanked my car that same day. I took it to the original dealer and told them what the deal was and if they didn't pull my tranny out and fix what was ever wrong under the warranty that i am paying for that i will have no issues in taking them to court and reclaiming my looses and more for false advertisement. They claim they have a 126 point inspection and pride them selves on there customer service. Clearly they didn't pull or even bother to check the transmission and pull it and give it a thorough inspection like they claim with every vehicle.

needless to say that got there attention and its at my choice of tranny shops getting fixed, and when its apart they will look at it and see what happend.
