Air conditioning filter
I have a 2003 Evo and did the install for the cabin filter. It was super easy and took like 15min tops. The How-To guide on here is all you need to do it yourself. I was tired of turning on my fan and it blowing dust into my clean car. My question is, i keep seeing people post that there filter has like leaves and crap on it when it gets dirty. I noticed that when i installed the cabin filter in my car, the inlet at the top of the box has a foam screen on it. Do cars that come from the factory with the in cabin filter not have this foam filter because they come with the in cabin filter? I'm guessing mine has it because the cabin filter wasnt stock from the factory and the foam screen protected the fan from sucking leaves and crap into it. Let me know if any one has an answer or any questions.

FYI..........after some searching, I finally purchased this filter for my Evo IX.
I purchased the TYC-brand replacement from www.rockauto.com. I can't remember the part number off hand, but it's pretty easy to find on their website.
I swear it is IDENTICAL to the OEM Mitsubishi filter...........it had some of the same numbers on the plastic. It even has the charcoal on the filter material.
I think I paid $15 + shipping for it. That is the cheapest I've found, and Rock Auto is a great site to order parts from.
