Turbo Maintenance

Hi,

I have a IX turbo that I am swapping into an VIII... looking for some recommendations to "maintain" the turbo.. ie: how to clean it / oil it up / what joints should I look at before installation? Thanks!

keep clean oil and coolant in your car, and why would you swap for an 8 turbo?

I was looking more along the lines of what, if anything, i should do to the turbo itself.

If it doesn't have shaft play you should be good, they run off the same oil and coolant as the motor so everytime you change your oil, your turbo has fresh oil.

As stated, check for any undue shaft play (do the intake/exhaust wheels hit the housing when wobbling side to side? does the wheel assembly go in and out more than a mm or so?). If that checks out go ahead and put a bit of oil into the oil inlet and give it a few twirls. That's about all you can do as far as maintenance, a little lube never hurts when it comes to anything in life.

^ I checked for shaftplay and tested the wheel assembly. Appears all is well

Now I just have to install it, lol.
