If you do gut it, use 3M paint protection film on all the high wear areas of the paint to keep it looking nice.

Good point about the lowering. I blew my clutch at Lime Rock and decided to send my tranny out to Shep. While we were putting the car back together, I decided to rip out the AC as well since I don't use it and it was a good time. Thanks for your old OEM belt, though! I hope to see you at the track sometime next year.

Beyond that, I removed the rear trunk liner which is nearly weightless and obviously take out the spare when racing. Same goes for rear seats as I'm also probably going for the Autopower rollbar. Battery is on my list for next year, too.

like this

This is how the RS I just bought is. The car has catless buschur TBE and yes its loud. All the seats are there along with the front door panels, but theres no headliner, A,B,C pillars carpet, etc. The trunk is completely stripped cept RS trunk bar. I drive this car on the street, but im in the process of putting the interior back in and going with a different exhaust. In cali, they already harass import really really bad, and if they pulled me over with no interior, they would be very pissed for me trying to drive a "race car" on the street.

gutted interior's where it's at. I still have the carpet, but I don't think I want to rip it out all the way to the dash up front.

this is the part when you get dumped

it's safe to say girls are usually not impressed by gutted street cars

the pictures that evo_kid posted would be a good reality check to how ugly the car would be without interior panels and seats etc

Unless your car is strictly for track, I think it's stupid to gut it out.

If you want to lose a little weight, do the easy things like a small battery, remove the spare and trunk stuff, etc.

Trust me, you are not going to feel the difference by taking 50 lbs off your car. My other car is a completely gutted integra and if I had to DD that every day it would irritate me.
