Any body drive a gutted evo on the street?
Sounds like you are looking to turn your car into something you will eventually grow tired of. Gutted interiors, loud cars, etc might be fun for the short-term....but the "excitement doesn't last.
I bet one guy that he was going to grow tired of his car when he decided to rip out the AC, PS, and most of the interior. He even said he would never sell his car. Less than a year later I was right. Sold because he wanted a more comfortable car.
Mark my words. This will not happen!

Could this be the first time the rear wing didn't survive a crash?!

exactly. my old track only car had to be put to dd duty a few times, hehe. It does get old if you make a dd that way, imo.
I say 2-3 years and he gets so tired of hearing every noise on the road from a gutted interior that he sells the car. Maybe we should start a poll and winner wins a prize.hehe
I didnt read through this thread, lazy tonight
I drive a mostly gutted evo with a 6 pt cage. a fiberglass sparco, 5 pt latch link harness, solid motor mounts, differential mounts, and suspension bushings but I kept the AC. I drive it several times a day and some days when my back is bothering me it gets old but otherwise I dont mind. Having a detachable steering wheel helps me get in and out a little better. I also kept 4 speakers and a radio in the car but it is easily removable for track days.
I say that if you want a real performer on the track but you still have to drive it on he street then dont go radical and scrap everything you can think of, just the little stuff. It only helps out a little on the handling but thats because what I learned is that compared to other cars, everything on the car is designed to be lightweight and it really is.
If its just a street car then keep the seats and dont scrap anything, its not worth the headache somedays and when you need to carry more than one other person it can be a pain. Its a nice car, keep it that way....
But if your anything like me then take practicality and throw it out the window

I like to see all the input on the subject. Just to clear a few things up i dont think i should have said gutted because i dont plan on taking anything out of the front half of the car. THIS IS NOT A DD ITS A BIG GO CART. I just want to go to the track, cruse around/ go out on really nice nights and maybe go to a car show or 2. Im gunna have 2 front seats probibly brides and a cage.
I really like the pictures of that guy's rs that is gutted out, It shows the reality of the matter very well. Thanks for posting it for me to look at.

I also want to add that i dont plan on selling anything but the front seats so i can put it back if i want to.
Me and mitsokid are on the same page, but his car is a little more striped than i would want to go. The removeable stearing wheel is a good idea.

I am not sponsered and i dont work for FITbikeco I have just been riding there bikes for the last 5-6 years. Ive had an S1, an old Van homan frame, S2 atkin and now the new atkin frame. Never bent or cracked a weld just dented tubes which always happens to me.

I dont ride no more, but I still have my bike. Its a tank compared to the bikes of today, cuz during the late '90s, every company was making bikes strong after everyone spent the early '90s breaking weak GT, Mongooses, Robinsons and huffy, lol. Anyways, my bike is a Standard STA 500, with butler bars, primo crank (w/ big BB), etc. I still hit the local skate park every now and then.
Now back on topic, I have put back most of the interior, so my car isnt like the above pics no more.
I've driven plenty on the street with a gutten IX. Not ***** half-*** gutting either, no dash, no carpet, no headliner, no door panels, nothing. You get used to it. If I go on a road trip I take another car, but around town running gutted is fine.
im sorry to disappoint but if two evos have the same horsepower and setup and one is gutted and the other has all the stuff the other one took out. In a race, whoever hits the gas first and shifts at the write times will win. Proven Fact. Anyone that has a car that the best time is one second different than the other. The ones that hits the gas first wins. Don't believe me ask any amatuer or professional race car driver.

i drove my gutted IX RS on the street. It is loud and you can hear everything./which is good, i like it/
I personally like the gutted car better then the fully equipped ones
My IX RS was under 3020 lb.
