Any body drive a gutted evo on the street?

So i have my car all apart and im waiting for more parts and the gears are turning in my head. Im seriously considering pullin out the A/C system and the interior from the front seats back. Then im gunna get a autopower roll bar and some harnesses.

Is anyone runing a gutted caged evo on the streets? I know the car is gunna be very loud and kinda crazy but that just makes it all the better.

What would the weight savings be? 40-50 lbs for the whole A/C system Maybe an aditional 40-50 for the back half and my abs has never worked so im gunna take that junk out maybe 20lbs there.

If my weight guesses are correct then i think loosing 100-120lbs off my already lightened setup would make my car fly.

I already have (weight reductions)
Mini battery
full BR racing tbe no cats
17x9 Rpf1s
wingless
Light weight cross memeber
Mustach bar eliminator

And im a jockey of a driver maybe 145lbs after i destroy the new china buffet.

Anyone who has lightened up there cars and still drives them on the street please chime in.

One of the best place I found to reduce weight....

Was my own ***. 185lbs >>> 152lbs

And I got to keep the A/C. LOL.

i wouldnt do that, whats the point? to race on the street? If you upgrade the power by like 35 whp then it will be equal to your weight reduction and you will still be comfortable. Thats whats cool about an evo, its fast and it can seat 5 people. If you want to HAVE to gut something go buy a honda.

I dont have to worry about the power the car is all apart because im upgrading the turbo and everything attached to it. So right now the engine bay is bare A/C is just sitting in there laughing at me looking obease.

I have a daily driver, my evo is a track/sunny day car. I love the look of a gutted evo they are pure bussiness and everyone knows it.

I have never had more than othere 2 people in my car since i bought it. Ussually my bike is in the back seat. With a cage and gutted i could just shove my bike in the back and strap it to the cage lol.

I agree. Alot of the weight of the evo is because of its driveline though. You have the transfer case, center diff, rear diff, driveshafts, etc.. Thats why the evo is as heavy as it is. If its a dedicated track car, then every pound counts. For a mostly street driven evo, I wouldnt bother taking the a/c system off.
Sure a gutted evo looks mean, but a fast evo with full interior is bad ***, imo.
Im all for weight reduction. I am in the process of relocating a small battery in the trunk. My car is mostly track driven, but even so, I dont think I would gut the interior unless I REALLY had to. Trim pieces are not that heavy, and I like the clean look personally.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
No point, as others have mentioned. Even during the AX/HPDE season, my car stayed full interior. The most I did was removed the spare and truck panels.

If you are getting the 4pt cage. Just remove the rear seat section, they will be useless anyway with the cage.
