If going to the dealer, I'd tell the service manager, "No diagnosis, I just want the new design heater box levers installed." That should run about $100 - $20 for parts and $80 for labor (15 minutes work). If they start talking about pulling the heater box just say no.

good advice, this will be my first trip to a mitsubishi dealership so ill talk to the manager and feel them out based on how they respond.

or i might just say to hell with it and pay the 20 for parts and do it myself lol im off at school and i havnt seen a mitsu dealer anywhere near here so ill have to wait until i get back home anyway.

hopefully my knob doesnt break off before then

Call a dealer and have them mail you the parts.

Anyone know where to get that little cable that turns AC to heat? Apparently mines bent up which is causing the knob to not move. If anyone knows, please let me know.

thanks

For anyone who has actually done this fix... Will this piece from STM actual fix the issue or do you have to go through the entire process in the TSB?

Just curious if I can cut some time off his job...

no that part has nothing to do with the problem... do you have trouble reading? every response and the links state the problem lies first with no cabin filter being installed in the earlier evos and lancers... the next step is replacing the gears with the revised ones mitsubishiparts.net sells. if this still does not fix the problme your cable may have bent or kinked over time like many and will need t be replaced. if that still doesnt fix the problem you can reach under the dash and move the gears by hand to try and free them and the lube them up more. and finally if that doesnt work... suck it up and take the dash out as the how to says to and fix the mixer box. or you can pay the dealership about a grand and they will do it for you and save you time but not money.
