For sure the SRS computer can have it's faults reset. Even though it takes the dealer monkey 2 minutes to do it, get ready to pay for a full hour of labor.

air bag systems have two sensors that work togather so the bag will not inflate for lets say hitting your garbage can. you will need to change the front impact sensors or whichever end of the car was hit. That is what is setting off your sas light. Then reset airbag computer. And yes it will cost $$$$ anything air bag realated is $$$$. You do not need to replace your air bags unless they deploy.

I'm sure Evolutions have pretensioners. They would need to be replaced too if they went off.

If your SRS light is on, you need to reset the SRS ECU. Provided there are no faults, you should be able to swap the air bag units without having to reset the ECU. I can't say whether deployment requires a reset or not. I don't want you to get yourself killed. I hooked and unhooked the air bag unit in the Talon's steering wheel several times to work on various things with no faults, but then again I've never had them deploy.

So how much did it end up costing you from the stealership to have your SRS computer reset? Also how hard was it to replace both airbags?

You'd go to the dealer after you replaced all the bags and pretensioners, not before. Personally, I'd get a used one or have it reset by someone else, Subaru wouldn't reset the controller on an STi I replaced the bags with.
