The huge variation on stock Evo 8 1/4 mile times seems to greatly support our position on stock Evo whp variation which we have seen from 211 whp all the way to 260 - bone stock

Of course if you believe Works - our dyno and testing methods are inaccurate - but my fat but dyno tells me my dyno jet dyno is right on the $ - also the timeslips show there are great variations from evo to evo

My theory is knock activity and high background engine noise on some individual evos is the cause. We do have some testing in progress to further isolate the cause.

I turned 13.39 103.60 last night. But that included a gallon of sunoco 100 racing gas. I also pulled out the air filter. Oh yeah, and the temperature was about 40 degrees.

Al,
I have a question for you. Since your a 1/4 fan and I have been for 20 years, why is your time/mph slow based on your whp figures? I ran 10.90's at 124 mph with 478 whp and my car weighed 3852 w/ me in it. The time I can understand, but the mph puzzles me especially when you are 300+ lbs lighter and almost 100 hp stronger. I don't believe my torque figures are any higher because it was a short stroke large bore motor. What do you think? Thanks

PS. I also ran 9.92 at 138mph with 300 hp NOS jets (DFI motor).

Kind of off topic

I don't know what kind of math gave you those numbers but I'll try and post my slip. Believe what you want, makes no difference to me. Either way I'm out driving wide open and sideways

Two reasons - one - I shift and launch super easy - my stock tranny has 11k miles and is still sound

and TWO - I only got ONE run in with that set up before they threw me off the track and that run has about the first 80' of serious tire spin

It should have been a low 11 second car back then - when it had the stock block

NOW - I have a fully built motor and head and it should be ready to go 10's if and when I ever get back to the track

Believe me, it was hard for me to swallow and I was driving. Maybe I got one of the 'faster' EVO's. 0-60 1.699, 1/8 7.42. I'll try and get someone with a scanner to help me put the timeslip up.

I run 11.0s at 129mph and my 1/8th times have been no better than 7.35

ive had one track nite with 5 runs- my best was 13.8 and worst was 14.3.

when i was getting the 14's, it was very hot and humid, i finally got my 13.8 the last run and the temp had cooled considerably.

i dont consider myself to be an expert driver/shifter by any means- but i thought i had gotten really good runs.. i guess the temp really affects the 1/4 mi times- plus maybe i was really shifting as good as possible.

whoever said about spraying down the intercooler-- what exactly did you do? do you think that adds alot to the run?

also when you guys are shifting in the 1/4 mi- do you wind the engine all the way out to 7k rpm or shift earlier at like 5500?? i was almost redlining it when i was shifting- like 6500-6800...

Something doesn't add up for me either.

My old Camaro ran a 12.77@108.4 with a 1.92 60' (I don't remember the 1/8th) so I don't understand how he's running practically the same time with more MPH and nearly .2 second quicker launches.
