Evo Owners READ!!Why is this HAPPENING??
Salvage Evos are ridiculous, IMO. I buy and sell wrecked cars every week and I couldn't touch a wrecked Evo on the salvage auctions. I tried to pick one up for quite some time and they were bringing around $10k. Keep in mind these were nicer, fixable Evos but thats still a lot if you ask me.
Also, I agree that Evos are holding their value. I looked around for a nice low mileage IX and they were in the $22-26k range.

I have an evo ix non salvage low miles eletric blue I would sell for 17k firm
VIII & IX Evo's lost a good chunk of value last fall partly due to the economy, I suspect the high demand that was keepign Evo pricing high also dropped. I would say a good $5-6K drop seemingly happen almost over night. Since then I think their has been a slight depreciation, but for most part pricing has stabalized.
As for sellers dumping Evo's driving the price down, I disagree. Dealers are selling for the same pricing as well. I don't see much if any of a pricing difference from dealer and private party sales.

Won't happen...and if it does I almost guarantee there is a gotcha or 3 you don't know about. I bought mine for 15k but I also gave up my motorcycle....and the car was apart so I had to take a huge leap of faith. Even after that there was a lot of stuff I had to fix. In the end it was worth it but if I had to do it all over again I would've spent more to get something with less headache. IN the end I learned a hell of a lot about my car then i would've learned on my own (Trail by fire) and I can safely say short of pulling the motor I not afraid of almost anything on it.
I've been thinking about getting an Evo as a second car, so I've been checking completed auctions on eBay for a while. That's about the only place I can think of to check the asking prices vs. the selling prices.
It looks like the asking prices are pretty high, but there are very few "Sold" auctions, with nothing over $19K and change. There doesn't even seem to be any action on 2006 models with "Buy It Nows" in the $22K range.
I think somebody mentioned the Fox-body Mustang earlier in this thread. They have passed through the phase of being super-cheap, and are now to some degree in the "old and desirable" phase, with the associated price increase.
I've been looking at those too, and a clean, stock, low-mileage Fox sells for more than the 1994-1998 Mustangs, and even the earliest of the "new edge" Mustangs (1999-2004), even though the latter vehicles are functionally superior. The Evo might very well take the same path.

I understand sometimes people cant go and buy a low mile evo that cost a little more, or hasn't been tinkered with... but to save yourself a headache why not save just a little longer, i know having and evo is a want, but is there a need to go and waste 16-18 thousand on a salvaged, wrecked , or high mileage evo???
stop selling them for pennies on the dollar... I am tired of being told "you want $24,000 for your 2006 evo?? thats so high, my buddy just found an 03 with 65000 miles for $14,000"..
When people sell them cheap, others expect them cheap.. Do what the supra owners do. HOLD YOUR GROUND. If you want to sell it for a certain amount, dont budge. You will get it eventually.
Oh, and fox bodies are wanted because you can make them run 10's for a few bucks, and use ANY motor and drive line... (chevy ford etc)

I have to agree with a previous statement on here. Once the market gets down to around $10K they will start to level out. I still see clean 03's going for 15K+, so they are still priced well. I have had mine for 4 years now and paid 24K. A 10K loss after 4 years on a performance car is fair I think. I also have a 97 GSX, which have flattened out and are still valued well. I paid 12.5K back in 2003 and right now I could get $7-8K with very little issues. That car was $26,000 new. That's a decline of $14K in 6 years, almost the same as the Evo. The market has to come to a point where you have people wanting the cars and it is slighyly there right now. The 06's are definetly going to bring more because they are newer and more agressive looking, but that is not going to keep the Evo lover from getting a 03 for 15K. I think they have stood there ground and at this point I think the price decrease will be slow from here forward over the next couple years.
I agree, it will flatten out, but also keep in mind the Evo 8 has been trumped twice now with new models.
Its 'worth' technically as much as someone else is willing to pay... dispite the TMV of the vehicle, which many ppl relate to the value and cost when purchasing cars...

Volume is always key in value, sometimes when specific vehicles arn't selling especially because of price, dealers will encourage/ask/provoke the factories to increase production volumes to lower the value, seems backwards but it happens.
Also brand is important...no offense but Mits is not going to be high on that list for vehicle value in comparison with some other brands...one good example which everyone here can relate is Mits paint quality which goes hand and hand with their corrosion performance. If a brand's vehicle's (sometimes not specific) can't last 10 yrs without major paint/body work its just not going to be worth a lot to many people.
Other factors can be vehicle awards, IQS numbers, safety.........

It's hard to say what car maybe come the next super car to own. The Evos production appears to be pretty low which is a good start. Next you add on how many cars are still around and not wrecked. The things which are going to be a problem for most on here is that the car should remain in factory condition and with lower mileage.
