Way overboosting...

ok well i tore down my car last night because i noticed i had exhaust spray on my radiator from my o2 dump housing leaking. while i had the radiator out and some extra space i decided to re-tighten and re-seat all my couplings on the piping for my intercooler upper and lower. well after all was said and done i took it out for a test drive and i hit boost cut so quick... now my boost guage maxes out est. of 23 24 psi. does anyone know why my boost is so high? could a boost leak cause that high of overboost?

sure, if you fixed your boost leaks you will now be boosting at a higher psi

assuming you have a ebc or mbc...back the setting down to get the boost where you want it

Make sure your wastegate line is still on and has no holes or tears from working around it.

Stock tune, no boost controller of any sort. only main mods to the car are hks bov/uicp re-circ, act clutch, turbo back geddy ti, and o2 dump housing. i thought about that maybe i fixed a good leak but i shouldn't be hitting 23+ psi on a stock tune with mild mods.

Same thing happened to me, I fixed all of my boost leaks and the car already spooled quick with leaks, now there is no such thing as any delay or lag, thing drives like an NA car lol its crazy. I was originally hitting 27 or so psi, now Im pegging 30 on my gauge and I think Im actually hitting 31 or 32 but the gauge maxes at 30.

Dont mean to jack your thread, but I have a bit of a question about MBC maybe someone could answer quick. If my Forge MBC is set at 15 clicks from the lowest setting allowing me to hit 30psi, and I wanted to turn my boost down for the winter to like 20psi and I turned the mbc down 5 clicks to achieve that, when I want to go back to my normal boost and I go 5 clicks back up, will I definitely be back to where I was (30psi) before turning it down? Or are these things sketchy with being adjusted.

My friend said he turned his boost down for the winter and he went back a few months later to turn it back up exactly how he had it and he wasnt hitting the same boost he was at. He had no boost or vac leaks either, but based on his data logging he saw that it wasnt hitting the same boost.

First off, you should def. have a tune with those mods.
Like other have said before though, you probably fixed a leak and now are boosting where you should be. Just get a tune already. Seriously.

an o2 dump will definitely allow above stock boost levels to occur in colder temps
