Next you will be broke trying to date upper class women. Better off with the twin turbo 335.

Definitely a nice car if you can afford the outrageous costs for everything. If and when it is out of warranty you will get broke off quick, fast and in a hurry.

all depends what are you looking for in a vehicle. The E46 M3 is a fine performer, great vehicle, keeps his value , it handles superb but is a expensive car to modify and maintain. Once your vehicle maintenance runs out (after 50k or 4 years after original purchase) be ready to pay a lot of money in parts and labor. I'm new to Evos but i worked for BMW and i owned 2 in the past. Evo is more affordable and easy to modify.

I wouldnt do it. Throtle on the m3 is sluggish like alot of ppl said here. I drove my buddies e46 m3 from Newark NJ to Boston MA and i wish i would have taken my car. His m3 has full exhaust, cai ,coil overs and some nice iforged wheels but it didnt really catch my likeliness. Im 100% positive that your evo is 10x more responsive then that m3. Maintainance is harsh too.

Noooo Don't do it!!!! The m3 cost wayy too much as far a maintinence goes and in this economy if your evo is paid off for why would you want to put yourself in debt. Keep the EVO!!!!

Interested to see how this turns out....

I've driven my friends SMG E46 M3 (2004) and it was nothing special. It was alot faster than I expected, but the throttle was so precise that it was almost hard to drive, and very jerky.

I would stick with the EVO, or atleast test drive that exact M3 and make your decision off that.

Thanks for all the responses guys! seems like the overall trend is that I will be paying a lot for maintenance and loose a ton in the performance department. However, the car has extended warranty until 100k and I was thinking of maybe stepping out of the modded car seen and get into something fun and luxurious. I dont know tho, if I dont get a good deal on this car, Im gonna keep my EVO.

i was in the same boat before i bought my 2nd evo... e46 or evo? i went with the evo for many reason listed above... its a nice car to have but nothing can compare to the evo...best bang for your buck... and plus u have WW! its hot!

"I was thinking of maybe stepping out of the modded car seen and get into something fun and luxurious."

half the time it'll be in the dealership for issues :-P gl with you choice

what mde me say no is my friend spent 12k on maintance on his m3 he has 80k on it now but still ... that might be a lie or a over shoot.. but he said he couldn't afford it... if it wasn't for his rents
