talk me out of trading my EVO for e46 M3
Thinking about trading my EVO for this car:
http://www.houston-imports.com/forum...d.php?t=558072
My car has 31,000 miles and the following mods:
Go Fast Mods:
ETS 3.5 Intercooler
ETS Upper and Lower Intercooler Pipes
AEM Intake with AEM Filter
PPI Ported Intake Manifold
PPI Ported Throttle Body
PPI Polished Battery Holder with Odyssey Mini Battery
Kelford 272/272 Cams
Beehive Valve Springs
PTE 880cc Injectors
Walboro 255lph Fuel Pump
Custom Gt-Spec Manifold
Forced Performance Green Turbo (Non-HTA)
Tial 38mm Wastegate with custom dump tube
Tanabe Hyper Medallion 3in Exhaust
Invidia 02 Housing
Megan 3in Test Pipe
Megan 3in Downpipe
Misc:
RRE/Progress 25mm Adjustable Rear Swaybar
Technafit Stainless Brake Lines
Clutch/Flywheel:
ACT MB7-HDSS Heavy Duty Clutch Kit
Gruppe-S 13lb Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel
Appearance:
Tinted Windows-15%
Swift Mach Sport Springs on OEM Bilsteins
Debadged Trunk
Carbonfiber Exhaust Shield
DIY Blacked-Out Headlights (Note they are OEM HID EVO 8 headlights that came off of my buddy’s SSL-he wanted my chrome Evo 9 Lights and I wanted his blacked out lights, so we traded).
Interior:
AEM Tru-Boost Gauge/Controller
AEM Oil Pressure Gauge
AEM Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge
ARC Shift Knob
Alpine Head unit
here is a quick pic:
What do you guys think would be a fair trade with that car as far as money goes?
Thanks in advance!
Eugene

have you ever driven an e46? the throttle feels kinda sluggish. im pretty sure the throttle bodies are electronically controlled. which means harder to tune (at least thats the case with the 350z)
also, your definately going to miss that nimble feeling that only your evo can offer.

BMW's are all sluggish throttle and delayed.
Had a 335i here and switched to Evolution.
Sister had 04 M3..Deffinetly not better than my evo is now.
Trust me, im talking from true experience of owning on and the priveledge of driving one A LOT.
The evo takes this cup.
Plus, get ready for expensive oil changes at dealers and BMW's electronic oil checking and all that poo. Your reg maintenance will run you thousands.
Dont be stupid!

the only cars ive ever considered driving over an evo were cars with more luxury like the one your looking at, and if your not mr. hotrod and are willing to compromise some performance for style, then i think just the thought of trading is good, but if the guy wants money on top tell him to take a hike, he would be upgrading as far as performance in all aspects goes...

If you are done with the whole 'boy racer' image, and want to move to a more prestigious sports coupe, then by all means scoop up that m3. They are great cars, and don't attract much attention from police. If you ever get the itch to go fast though, be prepared to kill the reliability of the car and be prepared to take out a home equity loan to afford it.
My opinion is stay with the Evo.....pay it off...then buy another Evo.

when i was in the army, one of our medics bought an e46 M3 after our deployment. his check engine light came on and he ended up having to replace the cats...
he spent $5k to replace the cats...
my second car was an e46 325i. this car gave me nothing but trouble...
while driving home from a weekend in the florida keys i was surprised to find myself on the side of the road. the problem? one of my pulleys aparently had a bad bearing. somehow this lead to the pulley being destroyed and the serpentine belt destroying itself. also this car leaked oil from pretty much everywhere possible.

If you do it, you will become poor from all the expensive BMW mods.
Plus the BMW is slower, WTF don't do it.
I had a 01 e39 M5 with about 20k in mods and it was still slower then my EVO, BMW mods only give you about 3-5hp per mod and they start at 2k each.
Hope I opened your eyes.
Gl what ever you do.
