map rev3 intake manifold failure

Im not happy to say the least, I just got my new motor all together and after doing a boost leak test find out the intake manifold has a crack in it where they rewelded it back together. My question now is can jb weld fix this? It cant be that big, because if i put my finger over it the air completely stops coming out, and its at the top area well above the runners. On the rev3 they cut the manifold in half then reweld it back together and its cracking on one spot where it was welded back together.

can jb weld hold up and keep this from leaking or do i have to pull this ****er off and get it fixed? its not fun to take out, thats why im posting this to find out if i can jb weld it.

Thanks

Did you buy it new? If so I would ask for a replacement.

Your best bet would be to contact MAP directly.

No worries about them not fixing it, maps a good company they will fix it, but its just sad I have to take the car apart again after getting it all together. im disappointed. ill remove it and send it back. hopefully they will compensate me for the extra labour they are causing me. I ussually never have problems with MAP, but this intake manifold was nothing but trouble.

The special gasket did not work either when i attempted to install it with the motor out of the car, the brackets did not align that hold the throttle body cable up that connect to coolant thermostat because the gasket was to thick.. I just hope MAP fixes it FAST, im tired of looking at my car and not being able to drive it.

Thanks everyone for replies.

I'm sorry to see that man. We do have a pressure check station (that I made) and our fab team is supposed to pressure check every manifold prior to shipment. Perhaps this one was not tested, and we apologize for it.

I will promise a one day turnaround on the manifold for any repairs that are needed. We will definitely get you up and running the quickest of our abilities. I can also check tomorrow and see if we happen to have one in stock we can send out. I can't remember if yours was coated or not? Pm me as well man.

Sorry again for the issue!

Dave -- You are aware that every shop screws up -- Its how the shops handle the screw ups that make them a shop - more so then having fewer screwups and not handling them properly.

lol. i just got done pulling it off. 2 bolts are such a ***** to get at near the throttle body side. Im glad it happened NOW and not later and blew a hole in the damn thing. Now I know the next one they send should be bullet proof.

lol, yea, i know, and im very impressed with how MAP is handling this. all im saying is that if i were a manager or the owner and this happened, i would make sure that extra steps were taken in order to make sure that my products didnt have that kind of reputation. i mean, if it happens just once, then its ok, but if this happens again, then we'll know that theres the possibility of ordering a dud.

props to MAP though. this manifold is awesome. this is in no way going to deter me from ordering one.
