Does your EVO have a Rev-Limiter?
Folks it's as simple as mechanical gauge accuracy. Not exactly new news in the world of tachometers. Some will see fuel cut (same as rev limiter as posted above) at 7200, some at 8000, but most will see it around 7500-7600.
GMat, not too bad really considering it's only a small percentage of the swing area of the needle. I remember reading about how Porsche's were showing a +/-10% speedometer error at top speeds, similar to the error margin on our tachs apparently at top rpm.
I've hit the rev limiter in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears. It's there all right. I'm inclined to believe that any car which was revved to "8000 RPM" has a tach which is not accurate (or an ECU reflash).
the stock rev limits are exactly 7600ish I've tryed it before i got my dynoflash and made it 7800. unless like jack said your and idiot and downshift when your rpms are high, but thats just the engine running fast nothing to do with limiting.
My SAFC-II logged the highest rpm at 7895 without fuel or ignition cut-off!
I didn't try any higher.... but i can rev the engine to pass 7800 at anytime without problem. Would it be the SAFC-II de-activate the fuel cut-off?
I had experienced boost cut-off on my car when I bring the boost pass 1.75bar.
So, do i still need a reflash ECU??

i missed shift many times most them over 8k still runs great but those are on netral, if you want to see when your rev limiter kick in then try it just slowly throutle your car is that ez, the evo engine can handle it no prob.

would be stupid enough to left out the rev limiter and let ppl blow the pistons.
