If you cant afford a nice new one, sell it and get a used higher mile evo8 like I am maybe doin. I felt the same way last year. Working mostly part-time and going to school, while owning an evo sucks!

I sold my 05 in Dec. Might be picking up an 03 soon. It will be almost $100 cheaper a mo for it!

If you guys do decide to sell, throw them in the classifieds, I might be interested.

 

I know how you feel. I'm in college and a big chunk of my small paychecks goes to gas and if not gas, food or alcohol haha...

 

ya that sucks. im getting an evo for the weekends and i drive a beater now.

but 3 times in one day, my god, i got 2 in one day and that sucked.

 

keep your wing on and wear it with pride. cops cant do ish if you aint do ish. i remember when i had my evo when i was 19. felt like a boss.

 

I can relate to the evo draining your funds.. I recently graduated college and the college loans are kicking in.. on top of the 316 i pay a month for the car and 106 a month insurance. its tough when you have limited funds but i would not trade my car for anything. Evo is my dream car and i finally got it. was it a poor choice ? probably.. but it makes me happy so its all good.. just remember that and youll find peace.. And as far as the cop thing goes.. I am a police officer and I understand whats its like to be young and have fun.. lol so i usually dont mess with the sports cars unless they are doing something really stupid..

 

What reasons were you given for being stopped?

 

I got stopped all the time to see if it were stolen cause they think its a honda

 

150$ a month insurance? WHich company!!!!! I'm 20 and have been quoted at 400$ a month for a IX and 370 for an VIII. 100% clean record too.

 

So let me get this straight, you can't afford your Evo that is payed off?

Seriously, if you can't handle the insurance/gas and attention from the cops you have no business owning the car in the first place.

 

sell it and just wait till your finished with college. you'll have a better job then and can get an even nicer evo. or just store it till after college. storage insurance is cheap

The Rexspeed wing sounds like a good option if the cops are your main concern. It uses the factory holes, so someday when you don't have to drive to Jersey, you can put the stock wing back on. You don't even have to fill the holes! Besides, even if you decide to sell, you're young and have plenty of time to get another one. What I wouldn't do to be ten years younger and more importantly ten years less in debt.

 

take the wing off and see if that helps otherwise good luck with whatever your choice is

 

I got the evo for cheap from an auction and insurance isnt a problem and I could deal with paying more for gas but im sick of getting pulled over for absolutely nothing. I got pulled over for going 60mph on the slow lane on 80 it was right after I got pulled over so i was taking it easy and the cop said he thought I was high or drunk thats why I was driving slow. Love the car but hate the attention.
