Being that your car is paid off, can you get 'part-time' insurance which allows you to drive the car less but still be insured. It is like custom-car insurance...Part time usage. Then get a piece of junk as a daily driver.I live in 'Jersey and use my IX as a daily driver and barely get pulled over (no tint). In 'Jersey, you are not allowed ANY tinted windows on the driver & passenger front doors. NO way, NO how! I think the tint and your young age make you an easy target.
Do a test. Take the tint off of the two front windows only and see what happens. If you aren't hasseled, then you're done and you'll know why you were bothered ALL the time. If that still doesn't work, try the wing. I'll bet it's the tint! Good luck! Just my two cents.

also, you can always put storage insurance on it and get another car. storage insurance is like 12 bucks a month. i think you can swing that... ? then get a cheap beater til you can afford to bring her out again...
LOL. The Evo is a performance car with a small gas tank. It's actually the Lancer's gas tank. The regular lancer can do 30mpg and the evo is 22mpg or less. So of course your going to hit the gas station all the time.
You just need a beater if your going to commute like that. Think this way. Filling a civic's gas tank 3 times a month instead of the evo 12 times a month. Regular gas instead of Super too!!

amen on the no wings! so true all my freinds hate it but i like it both ways... i leave mine on cause i dont wanna worry about putting it back on but honestly when i see an evo with no spoiler i think it is sick! but not on my own! jsut saying

dang man! that really sucks! i tell you what man! paying for school kills everybody! tuition is just too high man! they just need give everybody fafsa! its not fair for those people who are rich and get fafsa, while those who are "SUPPOSELY" above surviving by their selves need fafsa or grants! on top of that you got your car paid off? dang that nice! my insurance is like 180/190 every month and its killing me! but i hope you can keep your car man! every evo owner loves them to death!

Yea I went to pay my ticket yesterday and got slammed with a $430 fine for going 50 in 35 like 3 months ago. I drove it to court and all the popos were staring me down like lions.
Just as an FYI... In your neighboring state to the west (Ohio)...I have an 04 Tarmac Black Evo... guy I bought it from said cops stopped him all the time... part of his reason for selling... In the time I have had it (2+ months) can't count the number of highway patrols, sheriffs and city cops I've passed on state routes, city streets, highways, etc. and have had no issue at all. Now just as a 'point' The car had blacked out taillights, blacked out wheels, etc. My 'mods' have consisted of OEM wheels with snow tires (tis the season), OEM tail lights, Rexpeed Type-C Spoiler (to cover the mounting holes.. vinyl taping over them seems.. well.. trashy to me), And with the AMS Turbo back exhaust, I put in a silencer. Imagine that.. a car that doesn't look MUCH different than stock, not much louder either (unless you REALLY get on it).. driven like an adult... and no issues.. I had more issues in my first 3 months with my CRX than I ever have with the evo... 
I can relate to the evo draining your funds.. I recently graduated college and the college loans are kicking in.. on top of the 316 i pay a month for the car and 106 a month insurance. its tough when you have limited funds but i would not trade my car for anything. Evo is my dream car and i finally got it. was it a poor choice ? probably.. but it makes me happy so its all good.. just remember that and youll find peace.. And as far as the cop thing goes.. I am a police officer and I understand whats its like to be young and have fun.. lol so i usually dont mess with the sports cars unless they are doing something really stupid..
