is it worth getting a twin disk clutch?

my evo 9 has 300whps...not alot. and was wondering if its worth it for me to spend the extra money on a twin disk clutch? prob not but the heavy pedal even the stock clutch that i have that is on its way out is pretty firm. i dd my evo and its sometimes a pain. so its either i pay 400 for a single plate or like over a grand for a twin disk.

you dont need it right now, when you start making over 400hp/400tq consider it, I was at this level a little while ago and it was the best mod I've done to my car.

as stated before. if your going over 400tq then you need to invest in a twin clutch if you not planning to ever go this high then a single is all you will ever need.

I should be about the 350awhp marker after my tune and as of right now my stock clutch is slipping. I plan on buying just a stock brand new clutch disc only and going with that. Once I hit the 400 marker, then I will upgrade my clutch to a twin disc. I want the power, but am dreading the amount I will have to pay to maintain it.

your best off doing it one time , in the long run it will be well worth it , why pay labor twice on a part thats not going to last anyway , just get a twin and call it a day , and if you dont have the money for the twin at the moment , save up and then do it

^^this is also very smart, a twin disk will last much longer since you have less power now and still work when you get to 400tq...doing things once will save you tons of money.

If you plan on making the power in the next 30k miles, just get the Twin disk, you will greatly regret it if you don't.

I'm only making 300whp but I love my Exedy Twin SD. It's a motherf##ker to rebuild though(mine was $1000), but a great clutch. Do you research to see what fits you best.

I say twin disc is better thank any clutch because most single disc(Act) lock you out of the shifts at high RPM's, If you have the extra cash go for it it will work good now and it will work good when you make more power down the road .

buy the twin now and save money and labor cost. Dont waste money on single disk clutches do it big the first time hommie why do you think i have not installed anything in my car yet lol only want to pay for labor and tuning once

you'll pay for labor twice anyway, because the twin discs wear out faster and need rebuilds. I think twin discs are a little over hyped on this forum. Most people that have them don't really need them.

get the single because they are good up tp 400whp...if you going to dd your the single disk is perfect and if you launch it once in awhile it will still hold, unless u drag race your car a lot and you are making over 450whp there is no need for the twin disk, plus you know the twin disk wears fast really quick, so after 20k -30k miles you might need a rebuild.

Buy the Exedy Twin and call it a day man. Many many many people dd on this clutch with no problems. You won't even notice the pedal weight.

20-30k miles is like 2 years. I would hardly call that quick. I guess compared to most cars where the clutch may last as long as you own the car that may be quick but I think once every 2 years is not that bad. Look at what you are getting for it, the ability to drive a 600 whp car.
