If you drive your car in the winter engine heat is not that big of a deal. A non vented hood might be good to help keep the salt out of your engine bay.

I just took the stupid black fake vent off and left the mesh there. 2 years like that and no issues.

guess you haven't been around long enough to know that most CF hoods manufactured were heavier than the aluminum stock one.

the bad thing about no vent is that the heat rises there (where the vent is/should be). so you will see what the high temps will do to your hood in that general area. heat damage will destroy that hood from the inside. thats why theres a vent on the stock hood. to let the heat escape.

you are correct sir, it is Seibon oem style. For some strange reason though the vent has no open slats in it. So I either need to dremmel them open or remove the part of the vent that should be louvered and open.

the vents also have an aerodynamic purpose of allowing the air that is forced into the engine compartment through the intercooler and the radiator to escape out of the top of the hood. Otherwise the air would be forced under the car creating lift....lift= less traction= bad ....of course the effects of this are proportional to speed so at normal speeds effects would be minimal.
