Downpipe Dilemma: Perrin vs Cobb
question for you: are you running a test pipe, or HFC, or cat? reason I ask is because I'm going to be rolling a Cobb dp and test pipe with invidia n1 cbe. I'd like to compare the way the cars sound. if only the dp's are different, I'd be curious to see of there's much tonal diff at all.
Perrin downpipe that was installed by a vendor before in my car hit's chasis bracket so cannot verify if fitment is an issue but a spacer my solve the problem. On the other hand, Cobb downpipe if not propery installed may hit the oil pan or chasis bracket as well. Both have excellent quality so it's a matter of personal preference.. I changed my set-up so I my used ceramic coated Cobb is up for grabs. Cobb dowpipe anyone?
I have noticed that cobb has parts and works on all types of performance cars like subies and 350z's and stuff... Perrin seems to do the same but i see alot more perrin stuff for the evo then cobb... cobb really only has basic things like downpipes and things and perrin has more depth in there performance parts for the evo... just IMO!

from the sound of things it really comes down to whether I want to run a HFC or Test pipe.... hmmm no emissions sniffer in NH but low-key sound is important thats why I am hesitant of a test pipe. Thats why I went with the Perrin CBE. Worse comes to worse can you bolt up the stock cat to an aftermarket DP/CBE and have it fit come inspection time?

the megan dp is not 100 percent ss. the first part isn't at the bend. I dont know how relevant that is to reliability or performance but its priced well. I like the cobb since it has a low decibel rating for street use and is a full 3" ss.
Whatever you choose, just make sure that it clears your ACD as not many manufacturers make downpipes for the 05/06 Evos with ACD. Hence all the threads about fitment issues because people are buying DP's for the 2003-2004 non ACD.
my megan dp was pretty good quality but my ams downpipe fits much better
I have tried contacting them via their website to confirm it will clear the ACD. Haven't heard a response. I was also trying to get a full cobb turbo back exhaust from them for months with no luck and no responses. Just ended up giving up due to lack of customer support.

Good Luck!!
