Downpipe Dilemma: Perrin vs Cobb

I have a Perrin Catback for my VIII MR I have yet to get installed and I am ready to order the Downpipe and HFC from Perrin but I see that Cobb is sooo cheap right now and I know they make good stuff from my subie days. Is it worth spend more $$ and getting the Perrin DP/HFC vs Cobb DP/test pipe? I would imagine it would all bolt up just fine?

I just got the cobb downpipe. I flew out to salt lake last year to visit a friend and we went to cobb. Ever since that visit i have loved cobb. The people there were great, and the customer service was great. The reason their stuff for the evo 8 and 9 are so cheap is because they discontinued the products, but they are fully backing all of them.

Well then maybe you response should have been similar to this.....

You cant really say Perrin is "much better" if you have never even used COBB parts.

they are both high quality, 3inch DP's which have both been reported to have no fitment issues. Cobb makes some great stuff, they were just late to the evo 8 and 9 game. they're doing very well with their stuff on the X. you can't go wrong with either, so go with the most affordable piece. the difference in power is probably negligible. Both shops used their in house dyno to develop the parts, I assume.

I picked up the Cobb dp and it's a nice piece. I also picked up their test pipe. As soon as Invidia CBE gets here, it's all going on the car and I'll be sure to report. if you wants pics of the dp and test pipe to help you make your decision, shoot me off a pm.

Of course the Cobb is cheaper compared to the Perrin. You priced the Perrin with a HFC. Cat substrates arent free and generally cost more than test pipes.

Get all Perrin parts.

Sometimes the lengths of certain parts are different. For example, a Megan DP is about 2" shorter than an Apexi DP, so mix matching parts can sometimes not work.

Get the megan. I have installed a dozen of them. Cheap, great quality, and zero fitment issues without use of spacer.
