the Cobb parts are cheaper because they've not only have they discontinued development for the ix, but they are relocating and don't want to move a warehouse full of downpipes and testpipes. you can buy what is very likely the exact same hfc from either shop. cobbs hfc just isn't part of their sale.

anyone have some dyno's they could offer here? I think they'd be more helpful than a subjective opinion.

i have had two evos, both 9s. both had perrin downpipes, both rubbed the chassis braces that tie-in across the exhaust tunnel. if you don't mind removing the bars, then the perrin is fine. i would have preferred to not have had to remove the brace, oh well.

No panties in a bunch here.

I just find it funny when people say product A is better then product B, when they have only used product A and never used product B.

Im not telling anyone what to say. I let everyone have their own opinions.

BTW, I have no COBB or Perrin parts on my car. I just have experience with both.

i have a swain coated perrin. its a nice piece.

cobb makes good stuff too, so you cant go wrong with either

As anyone else had this problem? I have never heard any rubbing issues with the Perrin DP...

i read the instructions. so everyone knows what you're talking about: "11) Re-install forward suspension cross brace using (2) flat washers between sub-frame and cross brace and factory bolts. This helps with adding clearance between downpipe and brace."

my cars required more spacers than i thought was comfortable for the threads remaining. another thing was actual loading conditions - i would get unwelcome vibes/ rattling in some situations even with spacers.

so i adjusted... you know, as per real life.

who cares in this case, pipes are pipes.... you have sound to choose from and the route they take. Then if you care... weight. Nothing else really matters. I cant see how people pay so much for exhaust parts that only cruise around town and daily drive their evos. If you dont road race or drag race, weight really doesnt matter. If you daily drive, decibel levels should be all that really matters, flex sections or no flex sections and acd clearance are about all you have to consider.

I had a HKS and a Helix on my old Evo 8 without any fitment issues...

I bought a Helix for my Evo 9 and it fit like crap, sold it to a Evo 8 owner and it fit perfectly. Replaced it with a Cobb downpipe and test pipe and it fit perfect. The downpipe comes with the necessary hardware to space the cross braces just enough to clean and not look rigged with a bunch of washers.

My Helix fit so bad on my Evo 9 that the screws would barely screw in with the amount of washers I had to use to clear the cross bars.

I kinda like the look of the new RRE DP. Looks well made and they claim it clears everything cleanly. Nice combo would be to add the RRE rally cat.
