I believe import tuner conducted a dyno run with and w/o a silencer(Acura integra). There was no discernable difference with our w/o silencer. This was for NA cars although there was a difference b/t boosted cars and NA. I'll look for the link.

Too loud, etc. He says "it just is" and writes me a fix-it ticket.

So I keep the silencer on and $100 later enjoy a very quiet car with what I can tell to be no loss in HP/TQ.
If the "silencer" you're referring to is the black piece in the back of the picture, you will see zero hp loss or gain. All it does is keep sound waves from bouncing around in your muffler and increasing bass and amplitude.

The silencers definitely make a difference...regardless of whether or not you're running a cat/piping/etc. Just for giggles while dynoing my S2000 a number of years back, we put the silencer in to see it's effect...12whp loss. Not huge by any means..but definitely changed the car's output. Unfortunately I didn't keep the dyno sheets...

Kinda like necking your 3" exhaust down to a 1.5" exhaust.

Now Explain how this is Possible? when the 2 are at different ends

I just put in a Silencer into my Turbo XS, which I want to replace b/c it drones so much, (it came w/ the car)now I enjoy my pulls w/ out the loudness, it's still loud of course at WOT but not the droning that I can't listen to my music unless turned up high. If there's a loss, it's a tad of loss....but to be under the radar of ******** cops, it's a good way.
Because at the end of the day we all know our cars are Louder than normal cars, so the deal is trying to deter the extra Attention by the law, which Nobody likes to pay dumbass tickets for loud exhaust.

the faster the air flow out the exhaust the better the turbo breath ans spooled so if u put in a silencer which is reducing the the air flow from exhaust is will have some performance losses by creating back pressure on the turbo

Never seen a silencer NOT affect the power, on an evo, or any other decent power vehicle. Maybe no effect on some small power vehicle. Wishful thinking on your part eh?

Whether it effects the power or not, I couldn't stand having that ugly thing in my exhaust. If they are aren't painted black like the megan one shown, they get exhaust stains as well that look like diarrhea.
