Lancer Evolution RS Thread [MEGA MERGE]

One would be left with a normal EVO with a front diff, rear strut brace that weighed ~50lbs less than a regular sunroof-less EVO. It would still be ~$2000 cheaper and all one would give up is HIDs (which can be purchased through the parts department for $800) and some vanity mirror stuff which few use anyway. I don't see it has being a dissappointment. Just provides another avenue for one to build their "ideal" EVO.

F_ck if I ever own another car without A/C! I can live without everything else, but I've got to have A/C!

The lightweight body panel option is an expensive option about 8k brit pounds. It is just thinner sheet metal used in the body and is meant to be used with a full cage.
The RS is great. After an Evo 8 came in second at Topeka this year, it looks like the Camaro and Mustang crowd want to kick the Evo out of ESP. Class Killer they called it. So the Evo will most likely be moving up against better competition.
In most of the SCCA classes you cannot add a three point rear brace only two point basic strut brace is allowed. Since the three-point brace is from the factory you can run it.
The RS is for competition not for the street.

Any inside as to if and when we can expect to see these at our local Misubishi dealers?

It sounds to me like MMNA trying to build the rally/road race sector for the Evo... awesome!
The price also sounds great. MSRP is around $4,000 less, add a front LSD, and still lose overall weight. Not only that, but there's a color option. You'd think they'd have done just white and not given a choice at all.

package sounds fun to me. Who needs the sound deadening... all the noises the Evo makes are part of why it's so special.I'm also amazed that Mitsubishi is willing to sell it with such low expected sales. They've got ballz.

If the front diff can hold power it will be a nice upgrade for those of us with the vanity options. I definetly wouldn't want to give up power windows, mirrors, stereo or anything related to them. The only advantage I guess is the price. Theres an article in a UK mag about how little difference there is between the M3 and the M3 CSL. At least the CSL has the ridiculous carbon fibre parts. If the RS has black mirrors and door handles; yuck!
THe question is what the pricing will be on the diff, and on top of that, how much would installation be? My guess is that it's something best done with a clutch upgrade so you can get the clutch done while the transmission's apart...
The little difference between M3 and M3 CSL is about 20 seconds around the Nurburgring. Admittedly, a good part of this difference is apparently tires but that's not all. Just proof that 0-60 and quartermile results don't do dick when speaking about the dynamic qualities of a car. Less weight is where it's at.
