E85 is corrosive and will eventually cause damage to your engine, rubber seals, aluminum parts, basically enhancing wear.

You sure about that?

I think it's a little too early to tell but things look pretty good so far. So what if I get a year or two less out of the motor! Probably would suffer some other fate before that anyhow. Just food for thought.

e85 just seems too risky, based upon going on long trips and not having it, having to completely empty the tank when switching between 91/e85, etc.

I will definitely be doing 91 + Meth after all of my research.

Have you drove on E-85?

When you're at WOT on pump gas the car feels like it's in pain and you're hurting the poor engine.

On E-85 a WOT pool is like a walk in the park. Smoother, Safer and a hell of alot more power.

But it's about 60 cent cheaper where I live. But we don't have 91 so..

I'm making the move to E85 come this summer..

It costs me about the same to run E85 as it does on premium (93). ts the cheapest octane at the pump but it also burns faster. It works out to be about the same dollar wise....except the extra. 50+ bump in hp.

E85 is not a corrosive. Anyone who says that doesn't know what they are talking about. its not more dangerous then meth. Its not dangerous to switch from E85 to pump......just run your tank until its almost empty before filling up and then drive normal....as long as you aren't drag racing after switching from one octane for the other or tuning at WOT you'll be fine. A map switch setup is all you need.

Nothing beats race gas from the pump thats cheaper then diesel and regular gas and is homegrown (if you are patriotic).

FWIW, GM's E85 conversion kits for their vehicles include replacement rubber seals, etc that are necessary (per GM) due to corrosion.

Meth is much more risky than E85 period! The thing some people arent comprehinding is you can use map switching. Its really not that hard. Just run the car on e85 ill its really empty and fill it up with whatever else your tuned for. Same deal for switching back to e85.

ok first off the people who talk negativly about e-85 dont even run it. When i was looking to switch I had the same concerns as you did. Using pump vs e85 is like a night and day difference. I remember when people were writing how its way more corrosive then gasoline and blah blah blah . They also told me to get special gas cans to store it. Ok heres proof that you dont need a special gas tank. I once had five 5 gallon gas tanks from a local store and filled them with e85. I ended up not using it because my tranny went. It took 3 months for my car to get back to me. Guess what the tanks were fine. Honestly half the people commented on it have never used it.

I can't remember, sorry. The kit included a myriad of parts.

Seems to me that some people are either trying to rack up their post count or they are just plain clueless. SEARCH. Not only this forum but other resources as well. I posted links to several threads on the issue at hand. Others have posted their experiences here as well. You will always have nay sayers, nut swingers, and people that can't research and form their own opinions. So if you are afraid to run e85 because a few people have had problems while using it then by all means DON'T. There is enough information out there that proves it's worth and it's inherent pro's and con's. My advice is to pay close attention to those big name guys/gals (Buschur, English Racing, GST etc.) who are successful in the Evo world using e85 who do extensive research with lots of time and money invested. They are a wealth of knowledge that most of us could never come by on our own dime. Peace Out!
