Theft recovery EVO GG IX MR
Yeah man, I can't imagine how upset that would make me if someone did that to my car, but just keep telling yourself that it will come out better than before. Driving around in a stock Evo is like drinking non-alcoholic beer anyway. Once you get a real taste of the Evo's power potential, you won't know how you lived without it.
Start making a list of everything that was stolen and then find the corresponding aftermarket part. It won't be easy for you, but you will learn a lot along the way and the feeling of accomplishment you'll feel when its finally complete will make you love your car that much more. Just make sure to park it behind an electric, barbed-wire fence guarded by a**hole terminating sentry guns

Honestly in the situation you are in with not knowing how to work on cars very well.... Your best bet is to sell the car and go find a low mileage MR in mint condition. They are out there.... quite a few actually. And GG is the color of choice.
Just IMO.
Just IMO.
Not a bad suggestion, but go for a GSR if you do it - six speeds are weak sauce.
I know EXACTLY how you feel. My mint 2006 WW IX MR was stolen, in broad daylight, from the office parking lot, DRIVEN away within a 20 minute period.
Almost completely stock, looked after immaculately but driven like it was supposed to. Was just about to break 40K.
Honestly, you will never ever (ever) get over it. You just learn to cope. No, I'm not over exaggerating. I almost feel better mine was never recovered, but I'm glad that you're going to get yours back to its former glory... I would do the exact same thing in your shoes.
I wish you all the best man.
Oh - and after much debating and back and forth, from the Camaro SS, Honda S2000, Mazda Miata, 2011 Sti Sedan, M3, S4, and anything else - I've come to a solid decision. I'm getting another Evo.
Nothing on earth feels or drives like it.

I cry myself to sleep at the thought of loosing my baby...If I blow up the engine or break something that is one thing, but to have some F'ing coward, loser, disrespectful douche steal from me is unbearable. I am truly sorry to hear about your Evo...GL with the rebuild.
About a year ago, someone stole the "evolutionMR" badge off of the trunk of my mint MR when it was parked in a lot for 20 minutes. I was besides myself with anger, and really felt violated. I cannot imagine how angry and frustrated you must feel (I'd really be out for blood), as the scale is so much greater (in fact, to compare my situation with what you are going through is laughable).
Having said that, you should look at this as a good learning opportunity (I am usually a pesimist/realist, so it is weird for me to say this). To echo what everyone else has said, use the opportunity to make it a performance monster. Like you, I don't have a great deal of expertise in auto mechanics. So far, I have limited myself to oil and brake pad changes - if you are like me, the reason why I don't try to do more is that I am scared of screwing up my mint MR. Now that this factor has been elimitated for you (as you can't really screw-up a mint Evo, other than by not planning), this is the perfect learning opportunity. This board is a wealth of information that you should fully utilize.
Bottom line is, if I were in your position, I'd be beyond angry and frustrated- but would look at this as a learning opportunity where I might net an incredible (albeit, not mint) car.
Mark
PS I really hope they catch the bastards!
