is it possibe to get death whine low miles?
And its stories like this that made me decide that if i buy another used Evo IX that i would go ahead and set aside money or in my case just go ahead and get it done before I got in the car to upgrade those items so i could concentrate on going fast.
Where the hell were you when I was getting beat down on the previous page before. LOL

In my case the bearing behind the pinion gear wore out, and did it fast.
What I've interested in is to know if the old non-ACD t-cases are as vulnerable to "death whine" too, I got interested when I read about the 200k miles Evo 8 '03 with stock t-case! I know some Evo 5 & 6 with lots of miles on there t-case without any problems.
stop spreading this fear-mongering BS. there's nothing wrong with the TC/Tranny/Cluthes in these cars. the problems are the drivers. I know plenty of EVO owners with lots of miles and ZERO issues. some modded, some stock, all know how to drive.
the reason you hear these stories mostly from 2nd hand owners is because the first owners beat the car to **** and couldn't drive. then they sell it, and the 2nd guy gets burned. That still has nothing to do with the toughness or quality of the car.
these cars are great, and can take just about anything you throw at them. driver error is what kills them.
