180mph or 160mph?

I had a 03gsr that read 180mph, all of my buddies had same year and gsr as well and theres only say 160. Forgive my newbie question but it has been a question we all have been curious about. any feedback?

He is asking why some say 180 and some say 160. I've seen quite a few say 180. he doesnt know wheather it is an aftermarket cluster or if the factory put in two different clusters

all stock guage clusters read 160, and have hash marks to 170. the ones that say 180 are aftermarket, and will read the wrong speed obviously unless you have it recalibrated.
